In one of the first such initiatives, three IIM students have come together to start a portal dedicated to consulting profession to help students and professionals at the start of their consulting career.

The lack of concrete information motivated the three consulting enthusiasts to develop www.learn2consult.com. The portal aims to act as a one-stop shop for people who want to know what consulting is all about and want to start their career in it.

"There are portals which are dedicated to finance, but nothing exists for consulting as the subjectivity and complexity involved is very high. Learn2Consult aims at clearing all myths about consulting and it provides a platform to help students get oriented towards consulting. Learn2consult has been designed keeping in mind final and pre-final year under-graduation students, MBA students, and people in very nascent stage of their consulting careers. We aim to make people indulge in collaborative learning by contributing their opinions and suggestions through case discussions and submissions of relevant articles." said Karan Ahuja (IIM L 2007-09), one of the founders of the portal.

"Consulting is seen only in a very limited scope till now. We have provided information and career alternatives in different sectors under consulting that student have no clue about. To provide the expert perspective, we have associated with industry experts. There are five professionals with intense consulting experience which will be available in the 'Panel of Advisors'. The beginners can also ask their doubts or any other query under the dedicated 'Ask the expert' section of the portal. This way students will hear directly from the horse's mouth" added Alok Rustagi, another founder of the portal.

As a start to Learn2consult, two live case competitions were organized in IIM Lucknow and IIM Kozhikode. The events witnessed immense turnout and praise from the student community. Students were amazed to know the different kind of problems that are faced by a consultant and its approach for the solution.

To provide simulation to case interviews asked by consulting companies, Learn2consult provided case simulations. "Online live case simulations are again, one of the many features that make Learn2consult unique. Our 'Boardroom' section gives a chance to participate in an ongoing case study and thus learn various ways to approach a case." said Rajat Kashyap (IIM L 2007-09), one of the founders of the portal.

"To further broaden the scope and reach of the portal, students have associated with consulting clubs of the leading B-schools of India as well as abroad including NUS, Singapore. This would create a robust network of students where shared learning can thrive and grow. In the next step, students aim to tie-up with consulting companies to share real-life problems with students and get the diverse inputs of the members of the portal," adds Saibal Sen, one of the experts on the board.

In the beta release of the website, it gathered a tremendous response from the students. The members of the portal have already crossed 250 with page views of over 12000. Students specially appreciated the efforts put in along with the sections of learning and cases that allow student interaction to take place.
