Nobel Laureate, Spiritual Guru, Tech expert to address IMT-CDL conference on Economic Slowdown

Institute of Management Studies – Centre for Distance Learning (IMTCDL) is organizing one-day conference on the theme of 'Organizational Effectiveness in Economic Slowdown' on February 19, 2009 in New Delhi.

The conference will be addressed by many distinguished speakers including Prof Robert J Aumann, Nobel Laureate in Economics and Spiritual leader Swami (Dr) Parthasarathy.

Other prominent speakers at the conference are Prof BB Bhattacharya, Vice-Chancellor, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi; Prof N Ravichandran, Director, Indian Institute of Management, Indore; Ankit Faida, World-Renowned Cyber Security Expert and Subir Gokarn, Chief Economist Standard & Poor's Asia-Pacific.

According to IMTCDL, the objectives of the conference are to provide an insight into how to manage turbulences in an organization in wake of global economic slowdown; to look for opportunities for growth amidst global meltdown and to outline the role of Information Technology during Economic Slowdown.

Prof Robert J Aumann is an Israeli mathematician  who received the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics in 2005 for his work on conflict and cooperation through game-theory analysis.

Swami Parthasarathy is globally renowned scholar on Spiritualism. He has delivered lectures at institutions like Wharton, Kellogg and Harvard Business Schools. His message derives from his lifelong study of the ancient system of philosophy called Vedanta, the focus of a nonprofit academy he established over two decade back near Mumbai.

Speaking about the conference, Dr Bharti Singh, Conference Coordinator, told MBAUnivere.com, "All of us know that global economy is in the phase of recession where it is facing lots of challenges like unemployability, piling up of inventories, low investment etc.. The objective of the conference is to discuss the strategies and techniques to tackle with this recession problem with corporates and B-schools professors."

The conference is divided into three sessions. The first session will be held on 'The Role of Incentives in the World Financial Crisis'. The second and the third session will be on the theme of 'Growth Opportunities amidst Global Meltdown' and 'Role of ICT in Economic Slowdown'.
