MBA Placement 2009: IIM C concludes Final Placements; avg salary falls 23 %

Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata (IIM C) has managed to place 100% students of full time Post Graduate Diploma Management (PGDM) and Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Management (PGDCM) batch of 2007-09.

Prof Prafulla Agnihotri, Placement Chairperson of IIM C confirmed this development with MBAUniverse.com and said, "The successful placement of 265 students has completed on March 7, 2009. This was the second phase of final placement process, which started on March 2."

IIM Calcutta held the Phase I of its Final Placements Process 2009 from February 21 to February 24, 2009.

Prof Agnihotri added, “Certainly this year the placement scene is not as good as last year due to economy meltdown. Overall, there is 23% fall in salary packages” 

"About 89 companies visited IIM C this year where all the students were able to get jobs of their choices and good profiles for their career growth," said Prof Agnihotri.

According to the information shared by IIM C with MBAUniverse.com, 49 companies including marquee brands like McKinsey, BCG, Merrill Lynch, Barclays Capital recruited at IIM C in first slot.

When asked how did you find the overall placements of IIM C, Prof Agnihotri stated, "I am very satisfied as we have managed to place all the students in just a short time of 9-10 days, even though we have the largest number of students than other IIMs."

"I must say IIM C students are very good and hard working. This the main reason which helped companies to get best fit managers," added Prof Agnihotri.
