The Institute for Technology and Management (ITM), Navi Mumbai, commenced another session for the new PGDM batch of students on June 15, 2009. At the 19th inaugural function, held at its premises in Kharghar, the students interacted with Pallavi Jha, Executive Chairman of Walchand TalentFirst and C Subramaniam, Group President HR Gitanjali Gems.

While talking to MBAUniverse.com, Director of ITM Navi Mumbai Dr. CS Adhikari said, “We are excited about the new batch of young, bright students. At ITM, we aim for the holistic development of the students and try to meet the objective right from the inaugural function. This time, too, the tone and tempo was set with the addresses of the eminent guests.”
In the inaugural function, Jha spoke to ITM Navi Mumbai students about the low employability and emphasised the need of developing soft skills to overcome the problem. The ITM Navi Mumbai freshers also interacted with Subramaniam, who asked them to develop spiritual quotient. Subramaniam said, “I feel developing spiritual quotient will help gain a cutting edge over others.” The faculty members and key functionaries of ITM Navi Mumbai were also introduced to the new batch and the student’s manual was discussed in detail.

Soon after the inaugural function, one batch of students went to Lonawala to participate in PG Lab for two days. “The freshers went out with the faculty as guides. The basic purpose was to provide a platform to the students to know each other in a better manner before their study session begins,” the Director said and added that another batch of students learnt various management lessons through a half-day ‘Theatre Workshop' organised by well-known TV artist Lalit Parimoo.

A 10-day induction module, in the area of basic accounts, basic economics and basic maths, was organised by the ITM Navi Mumbai. “In this module, students are introduced to communication strategies, case-methods and Indian value system. Our regular study term will start on July 1, 2009 where innovative courses on lifestyle management, NGO project and CSR project will be taught to the students,” the Director of ITM Navi Mumbai said. These modules have been designed keeping in mind the overall development, including physical, spiritual and emotional quotients, of the students, he added.
