In his director’s report, Dr Anwar Ali, director, IMT Nagpur, noted the steps that the institution is taking to make its presence felt. “The year has seen IMT Nagpur strengthen its position as a premier business school,” he observed.
In terms of placements results in 2007, Dr Ali said, “A total of 32 companies were involved in the placement process. The average salary has increased to Rs 4.67 lakh, while the highest salary this year has been Rs 7.41 lakh.”
The institute has given emphasis on hiring additional faculty, research, placements and international linkages. “Recruiting faculty of desired quality is one of the most daunting tasks for any institute -- be it even the IIMs,” said Dr Anwar Ali. He added that the faculty strength will double to 32 before the start of the new academic year in June 2007.
There is a growing need for international exposure for both students and faculty. IMT Nagpur is working to extend its international linkages. “We have already signed a Memorandum of Understanding with HEC Montreal (in Canada) and will be shortly signing one more MoU with the Burgundy School of Business in France. The MoUs encompass students and faculty exchange and faculty to faculty collaboration in research, conference and executive development programs.”
Dr Ali is an alumnus of the IIT-Kanpur, and IIM-Calcutta. In the past, he has been associated with reputed institutes like Xavier Institute of Management, Bhuwaneshwar; the Goa Institute of Management; and Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon. He also has a rich corporate experience with several companies including Steel Authority of India, Greaves Foesco and Gabriel India.
IMT Nagpur is the younger member of the IMT family. It offers a two-year full-time general management program titled Postgraduate Diploma in Management and Master of Business Management Global (MBA Global).
