The convention is designed for senior and middle level corporate managers, academicians and management students from all over India

AIMA is organizing the 36th National Management Convention on September 18 and 19, 2009 at Chennai. The National Management Convention this year with the theme 'Creating Lasting Value' will explore various factors, both external and internal, that impact organizations. AIMA said, “The convention will be an enriching experience for all those who want to truly understand what it takes to build an organization that can sustain over decades of varying economic cycles.” The convention will attempt to find answers on how to understand and stay ahead of changing customer needs, competitive landscape and regulatory requirements, and also build competencies, systems and processes.

The convention would be chaired by N Srinivasan, Vice-Chairman and MD, The India Cements Ltd. Noted speakers on the first day of the convention include Kapil Sibal, HRD Minister; R Gopalakrishnan, Executive Director, Tata Sons Ltd.; Dennis Sun, President Asian Association of Management Organisations (AAMO); Nitin Paranjpe, CEO & MD, Hindustan Unilever Ltd.; Vinita Bali, MD, Britannia Industries Ltd. Chaiman and MD of Union Bank, MV Nair is also expected to attend the event.

AIMA said, “The convention is designed for senior and middle level corporate managers, academicians and management students from all over India. The second day of the convention will see participation from Dr JJ Irani, Director, Tata Sons Ltd.; D Shivakumar, Vice-President & MD, Nokia India Private Ltd.; Chanchalapathi Dasa, Vice-Chairman, The Akshaya Patra Foundation; K Jairaj, Principal Secretary, Energy Department, Govt. of Karnataka; Roopen Roy, MD, Deloitte and Sanjiv Goenka, Senior Vice-President, AIMA. Discussions on media by eminent journalist Shivnath Thukral and on politics by Deepender Hooda, MP (Lok Sabha) will also take place.

OP Bhatt, Chairman, State Bank of India; Anand Sharma, Commerce & Industry Minister, Sajjan Jindal, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Jindal South West Group; K Srikanth, Chairman, Cricket Board, BCCI and noted actor Kamal Hassan are also expected to participate in the discussions at the 36th National Management Convention by AIMA.

Some of the topics that will be discussed at the convention include identifying key value drivers within an organization, understanding the importance of creating and sustaining value in an organization, insights on how to imbibe a culture of innovation at different levels, good practices in building and retaining a global and diverse workforce, importance of managing costs and assuring quality of products/services, identifying ways to proactively foresee changes in external factors, while enhancing internal capabilities to align with changing environment and the importance of a leader in helping create lasting value.
