Delhi based Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) has decided to conduct its entrance test for MBA program for the academic year 2008-2010 on January 13, 2008.

Prof J K Mitra, Dean of FMS Delhi, shared this information with MBAUniverse.com. Announcing the date of the FMS entrance test, Dr Mitra said, “We have scheduled the next FMS entrance exam for the second Sunday of January -- January 13, 2008. Last year we had to push our exam to third week of January due to extraneous factors, but this year we will pull it back to second week of January.”

The FMS entrance exam is a separate exam conducted by the Faculty of Management Studies itself. The pattern of the exam includes Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation, Analytical Reasoning, Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension; all these are covered in about 175 questions.

When MBAUniverse.com asked Dean Mitra on why FMS Delhi prefers to conduct its own exam, he said, “FMS is a pioneer in management entrance testing. Our entrance test is the benchmark test in India.”

MBAUniverse.com then asked Dean Mitra how the FMS exam was different from say CAT. “The FMS entrance test is different from others in its approach. We believe that management programs should be open to students of all backgrounds, not just students with engineering education. So our exam is more holistic,” he said.

FMS is a pioneer of management education in India and was founded in 1954. In addition of full time and part time MBA programs, FMS also offers a full time MBA (Management in Services), a part time MBA (Health Care Administration, Management Development Programs and Doctoral Programs.
