Ms. Vinita Bali, MD, Britannia Industries recently addressed students of Mumbai’s Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies’ (JBIMS) on the ‘Challenges of an international career.’

A JBIMS alumnus herself, Ms. Bali drew on her rich top management experience while working with multinationals like The Coca Cola Company and Cadburys Schweppes in America, Africa, and Europe.

She talked about the strong process driven culture, which is a hallmark of leading corporations in the US and Europe, and the nuances in work culture -- both in India and abroad. She exhorted students to develop an ability to excel in every endeavor and to have zero tolerance for mediocrity. She cited the example of globally-acclaimed marketing guru Mr. Sergio Zyman, with whom she worked at the Zyman Group as Managing Principal and Head of the Business Strategy practice.

“In her very lucid style, Ms. Bali made the session interactive, inviting several questions from the audience. The session assumes great relevance given the increasing the number of international placements at JBIMS,” says JBIMS.

Given the highly demanding and fast-paced lives of modern corporate executives, Ms. Bali also made a strong case for maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Alongside this lecture, JBIMS also conducted introductory classes for the new batch. According to JBIMS, “These introductory classes were in the basic fields of management such as finance, marketing, and human resources. In addition to the regular introductory lectures by members of faculty, members of the senior batch also took sessions, which are very interactive and informal.”

One of India’s premier B-schools, JBIMS was founded in 1965. JBIMS offers two management programs: a two-year full time flagship program (Masters in Management Studies) that accommodates 120 students; and an executive program in Human Resource Management (MHRDM).
