Advanc’edge’s B-school tour, organized by Advanc’edge MBA, a magazine from the IMS Learning Center, reached Delhi on September 2.

Prominent speakers like Dr Devi Singh, Director, Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (IIM-L); Mr Kamlesh Sajnani, MD, IMS Learning Center and Prof J K Mitra, Director, Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi University addressed MBA aspirants on management education trends. According to IMS, over 1,000 MBA aspirants attended the tour.

The tour was organized for MBA aspirants to meet up with representatives from India’s leading B-schools like the IIMs, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, ICFAI Business School, MICA, etc to know about programs and selection processes. Prior to Delhi, the tour was organized in Pune on August 19. Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Mumbai are other centers on the tour map.

Mr Sajnani talked about the objective of the tour. “This B-school tour is organized to bring MBA aspirants and leading Indian institutes on one platform,” he said.

Dr Devi Singh said, “Today the world of business is getting more and more complex. Global forces are reshaping processes and products. In such a scenario, decision-making skills of managers are key. A good MBA teaches you how to take a good decision with less than adequate data, and in fluid situation.”

While addressing the interactive session, Mr Sajnani asked students to have self-belief. He said, “Believe in yourself! Do not see MBA as a job-oriented program only. You should understand why do you want to do an MBA. For this, do self-analysis. Do not think of MBA as an end -- it’s a means to an end.”

Prof Mitra said, “Before getting into an MBA program, ask yourself a question: Do I like the world of ‘business’ or not? If you don’t like it, you will never be passionate about it.”

At the tour, students got information and feedback from different B-schools represented. An MBA aspirant, Ms Gunjan, told MBAUniverse.com, “This tour was a nice experience for me. I got all relevant information that I was looking for from this place. It was great to listen to Directors from leading B-schools like FMS and IIM-L.”

Students were expecting more B-schools at the venue. One MBA aspirants Ms Shalini said, “The tour is good and informative but it should have had more B-schools.”

Organizers were satisfied with the proceedings. An IMS official told MBAUniverse.com, “Over 1,000 students turned up for the event. They were excited to get information from institutes.”
