Reacting to a news story published by a leading pink daily on October 24 which stated that CAT exam is expected to go online, Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) has clarified that CAT will indeed be held on November 18, as scheduled.

In a written statement from the IIM-A, a copy of which was sent to MBAUniverse.com, IIM-A has informed that there is no plan to conduct CAT as an online at this juncture.

Says the official IIM-A spokesperson, "Our attention has been drawn to reports in a certain section of the media about the Common Admission Test being conducted by the IIMs going online. It is clarified for the benefit of the student community that there is no plan to conduct CAT online at this juncture."

He further added, "The Common Admission Test (CAT) will be held on Sunday, the 18th November, 2007, as per the schedule announced earlier."

A leading business daily on October 24 had published a news story which said that IIMs are likely to make CAT exam as an online test, like the globally recognized GMAT exam.  The story had named US based Prometric, a testing and assessment company which is part of Education Testing Services (ETS), to be in talks with IIMs for outsourcing the CAT exam. ETS conducts several well known tests like SAT, GRE and TOEFL.
