FMS Delhi has completed placement for its Full-time MBA class of 2013 with top companies recruiting the largest ever batch from the institution.
The annual median salary offered to the student was Rs 16 lakh, according to the FMS placement officials.
Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) Delhi has completed placement for its Full-time MBA class of 2013 with top companies including E&Y, KPMG, TAS, M&M, RIL, Ranbaxy, Jindal Steel PepsiCo, RB, Coca Cola, Britannia, Airtel, Vodafone, Philips and Tata Motors recruiting talents from the institution.  
  
The annual median salary offered to the student was Rs 16 lakh, according to the FMS placement officials.   While 39 per cent of the students opted for Sales and Marketing roles, Consulting and BFSI emerged next favorites with 27 per cent and 21 per cent of students respectively choosing roles in the two areas.

As many as 93 companies participated in the process to recruit 216 students of the batch. A total of 5 students opted out of the placement process. More than 20 per cent of the batch received pre-placement offers, the institute said.

"With the largest ever batch graduating and despite the economic downturn, a number of new recruiters, apart from all legacy recruiters, hired from FMS yet again. This has ensured that students had ample and lucrative options to choose from, across verticals and sectors," said placement Convener Dr. Mala Sinha.

According to the institute, apart from regular recruiters, FMS also saw participation from 31 new recruiters this year. 

Consulting/Strategy:

With the number of offers in Consulting increasing steadily over the past few years, this year saw the largest ever participation in this domain. Some of the coveted firms who hired from the institute include The Boston Consulting Group, Accenture Management Consulting, Deloitte, Capgemini, Ernst & Young, KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Bain Capability Centre, among others.  While The Boston Consulting Group recruited for the first time from FMS, Capgemini Management Consulting was the largest recruiter with 12 offers.

General Management:

Companies which offered General Management roles included Tata Administrative Services, Mahindra and Mahindra, Reliance Industries Ltd., Ranbaxy, Cipla, Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. and HCL.

Marketing:

A plethora of firms across sectors offered various Sales & Marketing roles.  FMCG recruiters such as HUL, ITC, Nestle, Johnson & Johnson, Coca-Cola India, Mondelez-Cadbury, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare, Asian Paints, etc. recruited in good numbers from the institute. ITC was the largest recruiter in this domain, with 11 offers.

Other FMCG majors who recruited from the campus include PepsiCo, Reckitt Benckiser, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd., L'Oreal, Nivea, Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages Ltd., Britannia, SABMiller and Akzo Nobel.

Telecom, Automobile and Consumer Electronics sectors also recruited in this domain with companies like Airtel, Vodafone, Philips and Tata Motors recruiting from the institute. Recruiters from the Media sector included HT Media, Times OOH and first-time recruiters such as Network18 and Mogae Media.

Finance:

About a fifth of the batch opted for roles in Finance from across various functions like investment banking, wholesale banking, corporate finance, treasury etc.  Companies like O3 Capital, Goldman Sachs and SBI Capital Markets offered Investment Banking profiles.

Different roles in BFSI sector were made by a number of premier International and Indian banks including Citibank, Deutsche Bank, Standard Chartered, HSBC, Axis Bank, ICICI, Yes Bank, Bank of America Merryl Lynch and American Express. AC Nielsen recruited for its prestigious Finance Leadership Program (FLP).

Corporate Finance roles were offered by Nestle and Wipro. Apart from the above, other recruiters in this domain included EXL Services, Trident, ING Vysya, Max Life Insurance etc.

Others:

With over 50% of the batch having prior work experience, the placement season saw a number of IT majors recruiting for niche profiles. While Microsoft offered Program Manager role for its India Development Centre, HCL offered an International role for its Global Engagement Manager profile. E-commerce companies like Amazon, MakeMyTrip, Ibibo, Infoedge and Valyoo technologies also hired students.

KPMG offered its IT advisory role and Capgemini gave offers for IT consulting role. Other IT recruiters include Aricent, TCS, Genpact, Wipro, Saviance etc. The variety of roles in this domain ranged from Product Management, Business Development and Marketing to IT Consulting.

Supply Chain and Operations roles were offered by Mars Chocolates, Wipro, Tata Steel, Flipkart, Morarka and Channel Play among others.  Some of the students received offers from PSUs like IOCL, BPCL and Power Finance Corporation.
