Leading companies like Bharti Walmart, Jabong.com, Raymond, Siemens, Astra-Zeneca recruited students of IIM Udaipur PGPX program for their Summer Internships. Twenty companies sent in their placement offers for a batch of 16 students, who opted for 12 of them and eight of the companies couldn’t get any interns.
IIM Udaipur PGPX is a recently launched dual degree programme in Global Supply Chain Management. It is a 15 month full-time residential programme, especially for the executives. As part of the PGPX program, students get the opportunity to earn the dual degree by Indian Institute of Management, Udaipur and an MS degree in Global Supply Chain Management by Krannert School of Management, Purdue University.
While Bharti Walmart recruited students for the profile of supply chain management. Jabong.com, Hyundai, Raymond, Cummins, Siemens and Astra-Zeneca selected the students for the profile for core-operations, network design and optimization, supply chain management, supply chain consulting roles and IT implementation and distribution network design respectively.
Students were offered different profiles for their summer internship. According to the institute, 15%, 27%, 19%, 19%, 12% and 8% of the students were offered with the profile of Supply Chain Process Mapping, Logistics and Transportation, Network Optimization and Designing, Supply Chain Planning, operations and project management respectively. It includes the different sectors like: Automobile, apparel, Retail, E-Commerce, Pharmaceutical, engineering and FMCG.
The internship process, conducted in the first week of August 2013. Students are now entering into a round of Pre-placement Interviews.
IIM Udaipur PGPX caters to the growing demand for skilled Supply Chain Management professionals. As is well known, the demand of the operation management is increasing day by day. Corporate world is focusing on operational efficiencies and cost cutting for higher profits, thus fueling the demand for qualified supply chain professionals.
