NITIE Mumbai will organize a one day socio-educational event, MAHA MANDI 2013 on October 12, 2013 in Mumbai. MBAUniverse.com is the official Online Management Portal for MAHA MANDI 2013.
MAHA MANDI helps students to implement the theory of marketing management, consumer behavior and personal selling, learnt inside classrooms on the streets of Mumbai.

Students of NITIE Mumbai would take to streets of Mumbai on October 12, 2013 for their event socio-educational event. This one day socio-educational event stands as a hallmark in NITIE’s curriculum. MBAUniverse.com is the official ‘Online Management Portal’ for MAHA MANDI 2013.

During this one day event, students of NITIE would come on the streets of Mumbai to sell a variety of educational toys made by an NGO, Navnirmiti. The funds generated from this activity will be used by them to provide the impoverished children a better future. MAHA MANDI helps students to implement the theory of marketing management, consumer behavior and personal selling, learnt inside classrooms on the streets of Mumbai. This experience will also give students new insights into customer behavior and how to adapt to the needs of the customers and choose the right product and right strategy to pitch in to them.

In 2012, MAHA MANDI had a great success with more than Rs 11 lakhs of revenue being generated in one single day. Along with the students of NITIE Mumbai, there was an active participation from other B-schools in Mumbai too like NMIMS; SJMSOM, IIT Bombay; KJ Somaiya; SIBM, Pune; IES, Bandra.  More than 1000 students participated in MAHA MANDI 2012 to sell various educational toys namely ‘Tangram’, ‘Jodo’, ‘Navrang’.

Some of the previous year’s participants shared their experiences with us and claimed MAHA MANDI as an ideal way to shake them out of their comfort zone. One of the participants of last year recalls his experience and said, “We had a mixed day, some success and more importantly some failures too. There were parents who bought the toys for their children as we elaborated how these toys were a great way for the parents to teach the concepts of Mathematics to their children.” Participating students demonstrated the educational concepts that toys had to offer which would eliminate the need to mug things up, as children will see the things live before their eyes.

NITIE is celebrating its Golden Jubilee this year and hence MAHA MANDI 2013 is promise to be an even bigger success story. The amalgamation of social responsibility, practical learning for children through toys and unique experiences for the MBA graduates sums up the essence of MAHA MANDI.

NITIE Mumbai was established in the year 1963 by Government of India with a mission to raise productivity of Indian industry and optimum utilization of resources. NITIE currently runs four full time Post Graduate programmes along with a fellowship programme equivalent to Ph.D. Apart from Training and Management, NITIE is engaged in industrial consultancy, sponsors projects, applied research and social events.

They received the "Most Industry Focused Curriculum" award in ET Education Excellence Awards 2013. They also secured the 5th rank in Business World B School ranking in the year 2013.
