NITIE Mumbai organized a one day socio-educational event, MAHA MANDI 2013 on October 12, 2013 in Mumbai. MBAUniverse.com was the official Online Management Portal for MAHA MANDI 2013.
It is also an ideal platform for the otherwise classroom groomed future managers to experiment the concepts of their subjects like marketing and consumer behavior through live application and bridge the gap between theory and reality

NITIE Mumbai conducted its one day socio-educational event, Mahamandi 2013 on 12th October 2013 with the help of an NGO, Navnirmiti. MBAUniverse.com was the official ‘Online Management Portal’ for MAHA MANDI 2013. Around 1000 students came down to the streets of Mumbai to participate in this mega event which can be counted among the largest single day educational events in the country. The event was special also because NITIE is celebrating its Golden Jubilee this year.

MAHA MANDI was organized by NITIE with the help of Navnirmiti, which is a non-profit organization that works towards disseminating education to the underprivileged children. Students of various Top B schools including NMIMS Mumbai, SPJIMR Mumbai, etc also participated in this one day event. The event also saw the presence of Corporates like, Dr Rakesh Sinha, COO, Godrej Consumer; Mr. Sumeet Doshi, Head of Marketing & Alliances - India for Kronos .

Students roamed around the city selling educational toys made by an NGO named Navnirmiti. All the funds raised through this event will go for the education of the unprivileged children. Students started their journey from Colaba to Thane. The toys that management students sold were ‘Tangram’, ‘Jodo’, ‘Number Balance’ etc.

Dr. T. Prasad, a senior faculty at NITIE introduced this event in the year 2004. According to him, “Any learning is incomplete until experienced by self. It is also an ideal platform for the otherwise classroom groomed future managers to experiment the concepts of their subjects like marketing and consumer behavior through live application and bridge the gap between theory and reality.”

The students wore T-Shirts and made their sales pitch by emphasizing on the educational value of these toys and how they could effectively complement a child’s learning in the classrooms. The event was a fun filled learning experience for the students; it helped them learn some invaluable lessons on marketing and selling a product.

Along with this event, management education broadens up their wings to teach students that how to market a product and sales pitching strategies. This event aimed to produce good quality of managers with a philanthropic outlook.

MAHA MANDI 2013 was powered by MTV ACT and it was sponsored by JSW, Indian Oil, ONGC, Fever 104 FM and The Hindu Business Line. MBAUniverse.com was the official ‘Online Management Portal’ for MAHA MANDI 2013. NITIE is celebrating their 50 years of excellence in Management Education this year.

NITIE Mumbai was established in the year 1963 by Government of India with a mission to raise productivity of Indian industry and optimum utilization of resources. NITIE currently runs four full time Post Graduate programmes along with a fellowship programme equivalent to Ph.D. Apart from Training and Management, NITIE is engaged in industrial consultancy, sponsors projects, applied research and social events.

They received the "Most Industry Focused Curriculum" award in ET Education Excellence Awards 2013. They also secured the 5th rank in Business World B School ranking in the year 2013.
