ERA Business School celebrates ERAbrations; organizes Industry Academia Conclave

Era Business School celebrated its Annual festival ‘Erabrations’ with a combination of various events and activities. The event that began from March 7 with the Industry Academia Conclave followed by  various cultural events  like music, dancing, painting, sports, debate, quiz and Quarterthon with the theme ‘Empowering women-in step with time’ concluded on March 9 2014.   Eminent Personalities of Corporate world like Dr P Dwarkanath, Advisor, Group Human Capital MAX India Ltd; Mr. Amit Agnihotri, CEO, MBAUniverse.com delivered the keynote addresses in the 3rd Industrial Academia Conclave guiding the management students in their future endeavours.

Speaking on the occasion Dr P Dwarkanath, Advisor, Group Human Capital MAX India Ltd said “In the objective oriented world students are more interested in internships and placements, instead they should focus on understanding the basics of the subject” He emphasized that learning experience will decide their future course of action and they should concentrate on what is contextual to their field of interest.
 
Dr. Sanjiv Marwah, Director of Era Business school was of the view that students should bear in mind that passion, communication skill and confidence are the most important factors that affect placement. Also, there should be stress on theoretical knowledge and at the same time emphasis on practical skill, e.g. case studies from actual industry/corporates to ensure more relevant skills development.

Addressing the topic of allowing interns to take on live projects, raised by Prof. Hiteja, most felt that the candidates would be required to be trained beforehand by the corporates to get them ready for the job

The Industry Academia Conclave organised by the B school represented an initiative in the field of Business Management where dialogue between corporate and prospective interns is established. When industries recruit fresh graduates from the world of academia, initially both parties are often disillusioned by the resulting coalition. On one hand, students are sometimes found lacking in practical skills, on the other hand industrial jobs are also often not up to the expectations. The need of the hour therefore is a more industry oriented curriculum. None better than leading industrialists would suggest how academia should adapt to industrial needs

March 8 and 9, 2014 witnessed  the cultural events like Nukkad Natak, painting, Music and dancing, quiz on the theme‘Empowering women-in step with time’  at the institute. The event concluded with quarter marathon organized for both college students as well as local residents. There were more than 300 participants in quarterthon.
