CIMP starts PGDM batch 2015-17 admission process; will accept only CAT 2014 scores

Scores of Common Admission Test (CAT) 2014, gateway to PGDM programmes to IIMs will  be the criteria in Chandragupta Institute of Management, Patna (CIMP) for admission session 2015-16 to the flagship two-year full-time Post-Graduate Programme in Management (PGP). Candidates appearing in CAT 2014 can apply now for admission at CIMP. The application process will remain open till December 17, 2014.

Chandragupta Institute of Management, Patna (CIMP) is one of the most sought after B schools in and around Patna. The Institute has made it mandatory to appear in CAT 2014 for admission 2015-16. Apart from IIMs, most top rated University affiliated and Private B schools accept CAT scores. A few of such premier B schools are SPJIMR, MDI, IMT, FMS, BIMTECH among many. CAT 2014 is scheduled to be held on November 16 and November 22, 2014 across 99 test cities in India. CAT 2014 registration process will close on September 30, 2014.  CAT 2014 aspirants apart from registering and appearing in CAT 2014 have to apply to CIMP to seek admission in session 2015-16.

Admission process at CIMP

Eligible candidates appearing for CAT 2014 and planning to take admission to 2-year full-time Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) at CIMP for the batch 2015-17 can apply online or submit filled-in and duly signed application forms to the Admission’s Office of CIMP latest by 17 December 2014.

Application fee

Application forms along with Information Brochure can be procured from CIMP, between 17th September to 15th December 2014 by paying Rs.1000/- (or Rs.200/- for SC/ST candidates). Application form can also be filled and submitted online on CIMP website (www.cimp.ac.in) along with online payment of the application fee of Rs.1000/-. Candidates may submit the Application Form at the CIMP counter by hand or by post. The applicant is advised to check his/her application status on CIMP website regularly. 

3 step admission process includes GDPI & WAT

The selection of candidates for admission to the 2015-17 batch of the PGP at CIMP will be a three step process 

1) Candidates will initially be shortlisted on the basis of their CAT 2014 scores.

2) Academic profile, and work experience of candidates will also be considered for short-listing.

3) Shortlisted candidates will be called for Essay test, Group Discussion, and Personal Interview/ Interaction. Candidates will be notified by courier/speed-post/registered post/e-mails.

Admission offer letter would be sent to successful candidates by March 2015.

Intake at CIMP

The intake for the 2015-17 session in flagship programme would be 60 students at CIMP.

Eligibility for PGP at CIMP

The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA).(also referred to as Persons with Disability (PWD) categories], from any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

CIMP uses CAT scores for short-listing the candidates for Post Graduate Programme in Management. However, IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the programme at CIMP. The eligibility criteria are the same as required to appear in CAT 2014.

CIMP has unique reservation criteria

The break-up of reservation policy at CIMP is as follows:

General Category – 50%, SC – 16%, ST – 01%, EBC – 18% BC – 12%, Women of BC – 3%.

Amongst all the categories, 50% of the total seats would be reserved for students who qualify as a Domicile of Bihar (permanent residents only) and 3% of the total seats for Persons with Disability (PWD).

Fee structure at CIMP

Total fee for the program for the year 2015-17 is Rs. 5.00 lakhs excluding Security Deposit, Mess and Hostel charges. Other than the tution fee, students need to pay their own boarding and lodging expenses.

Room rent (single seater) is Rs. 4000/- per month and Mess bill will be based on actual contributory basis, estimated currently at Rs. 4000 per month. All students are expected to bring their own laptops running windows operating system.

First Term Fee includes security deposit of Rs. 25,000/- refundable at the time of completion of 2 years PGDM course. The refund policy of the Institute in case of withdrawal/cancellation of admission is as per AICTE rule.

Education Loans at the B school

The institute has established tie-ups with leading nationalised banks for providing education loans to desirous students, which is subject to their ability to fulfil the terms & conditions of the respective banks for availing the loans.

Scholarship to women students

CIMP provides scholarships amounting to partial tuition fee waiver to outstanding women students. The girl students of a batch finding a place amongst the top two students (top two ranks in the class) in a term shall be awarded a scholarship. Similarly the top three girl students from SC/ST category finding a place among top 20 students in the class in a term will also be awarded a scholarship.

USPs of CIMP

With active support from the Government of Bihar, CIMP was established in 2008 as an autonomous institution. The institute was established with the objective of contributing substantially to the academic and development credentials of Bihar, while fulfilling the primary role of training students to become effective managers.

New Campus underway

The Government of Bihar has allotted 10 acres of land to CIMP for building a state-of-the-art academic cum residential campus in Mithapur, which is 4 kms away from Patna airport and 1.5 kms away from Patna railway station. The construction of the new campus is already underway and is expected to be operational soon.

CIMP also plans to start a one year Executive Development Programme for senior civil service officers and courses on Entrepreneurship Development and Micro Enterprises Management.

The B school was earlier conferred Dr. J J. Irani Award for excellence in management education (Mumbai, November 2012). Later it was presented an award by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) in recognition of its significant contributions to leadership development (Mumbai, December 2012).
