IFIM Business School Bangalore, in association with OXFAM India & S.A.F.E (Students Against Female Exploitation), an organisation formed by the students of IFIM, conducted a charity run for the cause 'Save the Girl Child’ on Sunday March 8, 2015 at Cubbon Park Bangalore. The Guest of Honour at the event was Mr.Ananth Kumar, Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers, and international paralympic swimmer Sharath Gayakwad was also present. Kanyathon 2015 was a one of its kind event as it is was a fundraiser for a good cause organized by students themselves, promoting social responsibility.
                                                                                                                  
The unique initiative, held on International Women’s Day attracted approximately 2000+ people from all walks of life.  The participants of both genders, varying from students to working professionals, started and ended the run at Cubbon Park, and covered a distance of 5 km in total.  IFIM has been successfully organizing Kanyathon for the past 3 years. It was originally started in 2011.

The 3 major objectives for Kanyathon 2015 were Save the Girl Child, Women Empowerment and Awareness against Female Exploitation. Every participant was given a certificate along with energy drinks & refreshments.

Speaking on the occasion Union Minister Mr Ananth Kumar said “In today’s time it is absolutely essential to stress on the importance of women empowerment. Our Prime Minister has declared this year to be dedicated to educating and saving the girl child. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, let us all take an oath to save the girl child, and see all women progress. Maybe the next Prime Minister will be a woman.”
