Great Lakes receives SAQS Accreditation from AMDISA; one of the few B schools in India to achieve the feat

Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai has been accredited by SAQS (South Asian Quality Assurance System). SAQS is an international system of strategic audit and accreditation designed for the assessment of Institution in widely different national contexts. It is a globally benchmarked system for Mentoring, Quality Improvement, Quality Assurance and Accreditation. After AMBA, this is the second international accreditation received by Great Lakes Chennai campus in the last one year and as such Great Lakes Chennai becomes one of the few leading B-Schools in India to have received both AMBA and SAQS international accreditations.

SAQS accreditation is awarded by The Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia (AMDISA) an international not-for-profit association, and is a SAARC recognized body.

SAQS international quality assurance label for B-Schools is awarded only to institutes that have in place continuous quality improvement system benchmarked with the leading global B- schools in the world. Besides, this accreditation involves rigorous peer review and apex committee evaluation and has been earned only by few B-Schools in India. Great Lakes is proud to have received this international accreditation in just over a decade of its inception.

On receiving the accreditation, Dr. Bala V Balachandran, Dean and Founder, Great Lakes Institute of Management said, “It is heartening to receive an official communication from SAQS accreditation body granting us full SAQS accreditation. With these two international accreditations - AMBA and SAQS, Great Lakes is now geared to work towards receiving the AACSB accreditation.”

Conveying his wishes in his letter to Dr. Bala, Dr. M. Rammohan Rao, Chairman–SAQS accreditation awarding committee wrote, “The Peer Review Team of AMDISA wishes to record its high appreciation for the work done so far by Great Lakes.”

Highly ranked Great Lakes Institute of Management was founded in the year 2004 in Chennai. The B school offers  PGPM and PGDM programmes with variety of specializations. Prof Bala V Balachandran, founder and dean of the B school is a   J. L. Kellogg Distinguished Professor (Emeritus in service) of Accounting and Information Management, Northwestern University, Illinois, USA; Executive Professor and Strategy Advisor to the Dean, Bauer College, University of Houston, Texas, USA

The institute accepts CAT/XAT/CMAT/GMAT scores for admission. In 2014, Great Lakes was accredited by Association of MBAs (AMBA, UK) for its PGPM and PGXPM programs and became the youngest B-school in India to receive this prestigious international accreditation.
