It seems that the panic that began to spread among CAT 2015 aspirants due to surprises in Admit card contents has not yet settled

Immediately after issue of CAT 2015 Admit Cards, both the candidates who received and not received their admit cards, began raising queries about the surprises and anomalies they noticed in the content of the document. Many of them who could not view their admit cards even after having the valid login ID and password were not able to connect to the CAT Centre 2015 due to heavy rush of CAT 2015 aspirant thronging the CAT site.

It seems that the panic that began to spread among CAT 2015 aspirants due to surprises in Admit card contents has not yet settled despite the fact that MBAUniverse.com has addressed to number of such queries after receiving responses from CAT 2015 convener Prof Tathagata Bandyopadhyay, faculty at IIM Ahmedabad.  The surprises and mistakes that exist in the instructions, allocation of centres and non receipt of the admit card have their solutions also.

CAT 2015 convener has categorically stated and assured the CAT 2015 aspirants “Candidates don’t need to worry” as the admit card addresses a male candidate as ‘she’. Another problem that has happened in the admit card is the allocation of test centre far away from their top preferred choices. Now the aspirants are worried on planning their journey to the new place. Those who have not received their admit cards need to contact CAT Centre 2015 immediately to get the things rectified.

However, the most important thing is not to get over-awed by these surprises, you should continue with your efforts to get the things sorted out.

The surprises and their solutions; no panic needed
The instructions contained in Admit card addresses even the male candidates as female candidates. For example instruction 4 reads “Candidate will be disqualified from CAT 2015, if she attempts to appear for the test more than once.”  Similarly instruction nos. 8 & 10 also address the candidate as ‘her’.

Since in CAT 2015 transgender has also been included as per Hon’ble Supreme Court order, the CAT centre 2015 has addressed all the candidates as ‘She’. The clarification shared on CAT 2015 site is ‘'all gender specific terms used in admit card are gender neutral'

It implies this problem has been resolved and ‘she’ does not address only to female candidate but to all the candidates. The CAT Centre 2015 has not changed the genders of candidates, rest assured.

Non-receipt of Admit card
In fact this came as a surprise to many CAT 2015 aspirants due to their own fault. According to CAT 2015 convener several hundreds of candidates did not upload the mandatory documents along with their registration form and maintained the status-quo despite repeated reminders. As such, for want of their documents to include them in the respective category, it was not possible to issue them the admit card.

Since CAT Centre 2015 has suggested the candidates to connect to it by means of mail or phone, the aspirants should contact  on Toll free number 1-800-266-0207 or on email at [email protected] If the problem is genuine, it would be solved.

Registration mistake; Solution available till PI date
The ability to edit application profile was available only until you did not submit the Application Form. Once you submitted and made the exam fee payment, you were not allowed to make any more changes. The only facility available was to view and print thereafter your application details.

Since CAT 2015 Admit Card is based on the details entered by you in your registration form, the details contained in the admit card were also the same. Anticipating this problem, CAT Centre 2015 has  informed the candidates  “If you have genuinely made a mistake in entering your Date of Birth, State, etc., you will have to show evidence of the correct data at the time of examination/interview/admission else your candidature will be nullified.” It must have also taken a load of tension away from you now.

Plan your journey in advance
Number of candidates who filled up their first choice of test centre as Delhi, Jammu, Mumbai, or anywhere else have been allotted the third or fourth choice. One of the candidates has been allotted Pathankot in place of Jammu.

Since the allocation of test centre and venue is final and no change can be done now, it is no use crying foul over the surprise you have got. Instead, plan your itinery well in advance to attend CAT 2015 on Nov 29, 2015 with minimum disturbance in your preparation plan for the exam. In case you have to travel by train, try to get the reservation as still one month is left and there wouldn’t be any festival coinciding with your CAT 2015 exam.

Please note your Admit card is the mandatory document which you have to carry with you to the test centre. The same photograph as uploaded in the form is required to be affixed on the CAT 2015 Admit card you received. Apart from the Admit card you will have to carry one the prescribed Identity proofs to the CAT 2015 test venue on November 29, 2015.
