Placement 2007 brought cheers at IMT Ghaziabad. Early this January, IMT saw 100% placements being achieved in just 4 hours on Day 1 itself.

Over hundred companies were vying to recruit 253 students of the class of 2007 from the PGDBM, MHRM, and MIB courses. According to an IMT news release, the highest domestic salary offered this year was an annual package of Rs 17 lakhs whereas the highest international package offered was US $95,000.

The largest recruiter this year was Kotak Mahindra Bank, which handed out a whopping 31 offers. Infosys, Cognizant Technology Solutions, ICICI Prudential, Bharti, and Trident were also amongst the leading recruiters on campus.

“This year, even with the increased batch size, we achieved substantially higher compensation packages and offers from world renowned brands for our students, which is clearly a result of the focus on quality that we put day in and day out,” said Prof. Nilanjan Chattopadhyay, Chairman, Placements, IMT Ghaziabad.

There was a significant increase in both the number of offers made and salaries offered with many students bagging multiple offers. Traditionally, IMT had been following a policy of ‘one student-one offer’. But increasing demand from the industry had led to the institute accepting multiple offers for its students.

Overall, the average salary was Rs 10.36 lakhs, an increase of a whopping 40% over the previous year. The average domestic salary worked out at Rs 9.7 lakhs, while the average domestic salary for freshers (who didn’t have previous work experience) was Rs 8.83 lakhs.

There were also many first-time recruiters – like Union Bank of Switzerland, Irevna, BA Continuum, eClerx, Jumbo International, Covansys, Dell, and Accenture.

They joined an already impressive portfolio of companies visiting the campus for the recruitment process, which included GE, JP Morgan Chase, Dabur, Marico, HLL, Henkel, Godfrey Phillips, Citibank, HSBC, SBI, SabMiller, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Satyam, Bharti, Idea, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Essar Group, Vedanta, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Avalon, Anand Bazaar Patrika and Radio Mirchi.

The banking sector emerged as the major recruiter for 2007 in IMT -- 36% of the total offers were made by banks.
