JBIMS Mumbai will follow the Centralized Admission Process of DTE Maharashtra for admission to its MMS 2016-18 batch and will no longer conduct its own PI round as last year
It is very much possible that you may get admission to JBIMS on the basis of CMAT 2016, MAT 2015-16 or XAT 2016 scores as DTE Maharashtra requires and allows a candidate to participate in CAP round without appearing in MAH CET

After enjoying one year of autonomy in admission process last year, Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) Mumbai one of the most sought after management institutes goes back to the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) to be conducted by DTE Maharashtra for admission to MMS/MBA 2016-18 batch in 400 odd Maharashtra B-schools.

Announcing the decision, JBIMS has issued the notification for MMS admissions 2016-18 stating ‘Admission for Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai for two years Masters in Management Studies (MMS) programme will be done through Centralised Admission Process (CAP) of Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Maharashtra.’

Accordingly, now the candidates will have to appear in CAP 2016 to be conducted by DTE Maharashtra sometime in June 2016 instead of looking for separate PI round at JBIMS. Besides no separate application is proposed to be submitted to JBIMS, Mumbai as the allotment of the B-school will be decided in CAP round.

After taking the shape of autonomous B-school, JBIMS conducted and finalised its own admission process including conducting the PI round for 2-year full time Masters in Management Studies (MMS) Programme in 2015. The admission process at JBIMS was over well within time, while the CAP round at DTE Maharashtra continued to linger-on. However, for admission 2016 JBIMS will again be following the DTE-CAP 2016, instead of finalizing the admission process on its own.

CMAT/XAT takers may get JBIMS now
Last year JBIMS accepted only CAT and MAH-CET exam scores as the final admission round was conducted by this B-school as an autonomous body. However, in academic year 2016-17 the rules laid down by DTE Maharashtra for admission to 2 years full time MMS programmes would be followed.

Interestingly, the candidates who  do not appear in MAHCET 2016 but have appeared in CAT 2015/ XAT 2016/CMAT 2016/ MAT 2015-16 can also register for CAP 2016 if they wish to be considered for admission in Maharashtra B schools including JBIMS. It is very much possible that you may get admission to JBIMS on the basis of CMAT 2016, MAT 2015-16 or XAT 2016 scores as DTE Maharashtra requires and allows a candidate to participate in CAP round without appearing in MAH-CET but appearing in one of the national level entrance exams is mandatory.

Application process
Candidates desirous of seeking admission in JBIMS, Mumbai now have to wait for the notification for MAH-MBA CET 2016 to be out. You will have to register and apply for MAH-MBA CET 2016 and pay the requisite fee.

This will entitle you to appear in MAH-MBA CET 2016 and in Centralized Admission Process (CAP) 2016 to be conducted by DTE Maharashtra after declaration of CET 2016 result. You may choose not to appear in the written exam of MAH-MBA CET 2016 if you have already obtained very good score in other national level exam.

However, taking MAH-MBA CET 2016 will be a good option, as it may improve your score and you may be able to be shortlisted on the basis of your best scores. It should be remembered that DTE Maharashtra considers the best of the many scores for the admission to MBA/MMS programmes in Maharashtra B-schools including JBIMS.

JBIMS: High ROI B-school
Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) Mumbai is one of the 3 highest ranked B schools in Maharashtra with SPJIMR and NMIMS and one of the top 15 B schools In India. JBIMS was granted the status of Autonomous institute in late 2014. The B school has a low fee structure as the fee is decided by the Shikshan Shulka Samiti, Maharashtra. The fee structure for admission 2016 is yet to be decided but it is expected that the 2 year fee would not exceed Rs.3 lakhs. JBIMS has the legacy of 100% placement record with high average placement packages. The Return on Investment at JBIMS is high and the Alumni base is large enough and is spread all over the world.

The granting of autonomy to JBIMS in its golden jubilee year received high acclaim in the industry. The Institute aspires to give a new meaning to the word ‘excellence’ and in this endeavour it is being supported and guided by its illustrious alumni who have come together to give a new direction to the now autonomous business school, in the form of a new curriculum, a new intake policy and a new campus.
