TAPMI campus placements draw good response

TA Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) Manipal announced the result of ots campus placements-that were held on 20 December 2006-- for its outgoing class of 2007.

Almost all students were placed within a few hours of the commencement of the placement process. Major recruiting sectors were IT, consultancy and financial services (including banking). The highest salary reported is Rs.9.25 lakh per annum.

As many as 42 companies visited TAPMI’s campus and handed out 184 offers; 127 students accepted offers in 38 companies. Nine students had received pre-placement offers of which two chose to accept the offers.

The largest recruiting companies were Cognizant with 19 placements, Infosys with 16 placements and IBM with 10 placements. Other key recruiters were Irevna, Citigroup, HSBC Bank, and VSNL.

There was also a clutch of first-time recruiters at TAPMI – companies like IBM, HSBC Bank, VSNL, i-Flex, Covansys, Deloitte, Hewlett Packard, JP Morgan Chase, Indian Oil, Idea Cellular, Perfetti Van Melle, United Breweries and Patni Computer Systems.

TAPMI’s new release says that the highest salary Rs.9.25 per annum was much higher than last year’s highest of Rs 7.75 lakh per annum. The average salary offered this year was Rs.6.66 lakh per annum – an increase of 16% over year 2006. The institute adopted a dual offer system (which means that students could be offered two placements) with an end-of-the-day acceptance to allow students to choose their preferred organization.

The TA Pai Management Institute was established in 1980; it strives to fulfill the vision of late Shri T.A.Pai. It has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a five-star rating. As per the TAPMI website, the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) ranks TAPMI in ‘A’ category.
