JBIMS: Still clueless on its admission criteria
Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) Mumbai, now an autonomous and highly ranked MBA college of Mumbai University is still clueless on its admission process. This has created panic among the MAHCET aspirants. In fact, JBIMS is one of the key constituents and star MBA colleges accepting MAHCET scores. For the admission year 2017, JBIMS does not propose to offer admission to its MMS 2017-19 batch through the DTE-Centralized Admission Process (CAP round) and will announce its own admission criteria.

It is also expected that JBIMS, Mumbai may conduct its own admission test also along with accepting MAHCET 2017 scores. A proposal to this effect has already been sent by JBIMS to Government of Maharashtra. Another key change expected in the admission process at JBIMS is that the top MBA college may increase the intake for All India candidates from 15% to 50%. At present JBIMS has a total intake of 120 seats in its MMS batch and this number is also expected to increase. The B-school is expected to announce its admission policy and criteria in a few days from now once the decidion on its proposal is taken by Government of Maharashtra.

So far JBIMS has not advised its admission policy and has removed all the details regarding the admission process from its website adding woes and creating panic among the MBA aspirants who wish to apply for admission to MMS 2017-19 at JBIMS.

Multiple session Exam of 2½ hours duarion: Need to report 1½ hours before
MAHCET 2017 exam will be held in multiple sessions in 2 days on March 4 & 5, 2017. There will be 2 sessions of 2½ hours each day. However the test taker may have to remain at the test venue for about 4 hours. According to DTE Maharashtra the MAHCET 2017 conducting authority “Though the duration of the examination is 2.5 hours, candidates may be required to be at the venue for about 4 hours including the time required for completion of various formalities such as verification and collection of various requisite documents, logging in, giving of instructions.”

 The morning session exam is proposed to begin by 9AM and you need to report at the test venue around 7.30 – 8 AM. The afternoon session begins at 1PM for which you need to report immediately after the 1st session exam is over. Try to be at the test venue latest by 12Noon.

MAHCET Exam pattern: No surprises expected

MAHCET 2017 exam is on the same lines as was held in 2016. It is an online exam for admission to AICTE approved MBA/MMS/ PGDM courses 2017-19 batch in 400 MBA colleges across the state of Maharashtra. No structural and content based changes in MAHCET 2017 are proposed by DTE Maharashtra.

There will be 200 questions in MAHCET 2017 divided in 4 sections. Each question carries a weight of 1 mark and there is no negative marking for wrong answer.

MAHCET 2017:  Test cities across the country
MAHCET 2017 for admission to MBA/MMS 2017-19 will be conducted in all the prominent cities across the State of Maharashtra. Since All India candidates also register and appear in the exam in large number, there are number of test cities across the country where MAHCET is held.

According to DTE Maharashtra ‘Each centre may have many "Venues" depending upon the number of candidates appearing at that centre’ and adds further ‘ If sufficient number of candidates does not opt for a particular centre for "Online" examination, Competent Authority reserves the right to allot any other adjunct centre to those candidates OR if the number of candidates is more than the capacity available for online exam for a centre, Competent Authority reserves the right to allot any other centre to the candidate.’

Not a difficult Exam: Admission chances in top MBA colleges
MAHCET is not considered a difficult exam and this is the reason more and more candidates prefer to appear in the exam. MAHCET offers admission opportunity in high RoI top MBA colleges starting with a score of 70-80 out of 200.

Past cut offs in JBIMS, SIMSREE, K J Somaiya remained between 110 to 130 out of total 200 marks.

Time Management: Key factor to improve score
Time management in MAHCET 2017 will be the important issue as you have to attempt 200 odd questions in 2½  hours only. With no sectional time limit for any section, candidates not keeping watch on time usually miss even the sectional cut-offs and despite scoring good percentile don’t get shortlisted due to sectional dip in scores.

No negative Marking: Check your percentile after exam
Questions in different sections and sub sections in MAHCET 2017 have uniform scoring pattern of awarding 1 mark for each correct answer. There is no negative marking for wrong answer. This is the reason test takers try to maximise their score by attempting more questions and do good guess work also.

High Placements attracting MBA  aspirants
The fee structure of the MBA Colleges accepting MAH CET 2017 scores and participating in DTE-CAP 2017 process is decided by the ‘Shikshan Shulka Samiti’ of Government of Maharashtra. The candidates have to pay low fee of Rs. 2 to 2.5 lakhs for the entire MBA course whereas the average placement in these MBA colleges of Maharashtra goes as high as 8 to 15 lakhs per annum.

JBIMS Mumbai recorded an average placement of Rs. 18.13 lakhs; K J Somaiya has recorded Rs.9.4 lakhs in Placement 2017. Similarly other top B-schools has surpassed past placements making MBA in Maharashtra a high RoI management programme.
