Today September 25, is the last day for CAT 2017 registration and application submission online. The CAT 2017 has already surpassed huge registration figure and it is expected that a good number of candidates would register on this last day after the CAT registration date has been extended for 5 more days from September 20. It should be noted that CAT 2017 registration will end today at 5 PM.

If you wish to get into any of the 20 IIMs or other top rated B-school like FMS, SPJIMR, MDI, IMI, IMT, NITIE, BIMTECH, TAPMI, Great lakes among others in 2018, there is no point waiting now, and it will be better to register and apply for Common Admission Test (CAT) 2017 immediately without keeping it delayed even for an hour on this last day.

The new CAT 2017 registration end date announced by IIM Lucknow to close registration for Common Admission Test (CAT) 2017 is September 25, 2017 after allowing a 5 day extended period to register for the largest MBA entrance test of India. Only few hours are left to finalise your CAT registration now.

Apply before 3PM today to avoid glitch
A great number of candidates has registered for CAT 2017 since September 20, and the heavy rush especially in the afternoon today could delay the registration process also. It may create some technical glitches, may slow down the CAT server response time which may cause your CAT registration fee payment getting stuck in transit.

CAT 2017 exam convener, Prof Neeraj Dwivedi has given the solution to avoid such a situation advising the CAT aspirants, “Candidates are advised to register and complete application at the earliest rather than waiting for the last date.”

The last date has arrived but many are there who still are waiting to apply for CAT 2017. It will be better if you finalise your CAT 2017 registration by 3PM today to avoid any technical glitch and delay as during afternoon CAT 2017 server may not be as quick as it has been and you may face technical problems during the process.

Last chance to apply: No further extension
Waiting for the last minute to register and apply for CAT 2017 might put you in some unwarranted difficult situation as CAT has the history of heavy rush on the last day of registration process especially during afternoon. On the top of it the CAT 2017 exam convener has confirmed that there will be no further extension in the CAT 2017 registration last date.

The registration process requires you to enter the required details, upload the photograph & signature and finally make the payment. There could be problems due to heavy rush during afternoon hours as the CAT registration would close at 5 PM. This may cause delay in accessing and completing the registration and payment making on the website.

Earlier while announcing the extension of 5 days for CAT 2017 registration last date, the CAT convener also categorically suggested to CAT aspirants who have not been able to register for CAT 2017 till now “The last date of registration has been extended to September 25, 2017 (5:00 pm). Candidates are advised to register and complete their applications well before this date.”

CAT convener advises to avoid last minute
The query, when to finalise the registration for CAT 2017 has the best answer from CAT convener with the simple advice - to avoid rush, complete your registration at-least a few days before  the last day of registration.

Although Prof Dwivedi is confident enough that CAT 2017 registration site may not pose any technical problem till the Registration process gets over at 5 PM on September 25, 2017, you should be ready for any eventuality and therefore must finalise your CAT registration without further delay.

CAT preparation experts and mentors like Prof S K Agarwal also suggest completing the registration process without waiting for the last minute as thousands are expected to finalize their registration process on the last day. Accordingly the CAT registration must be done on priority. It will be on the safer side for the candidates to avoid the last minute rush in their own interest and save time as the speed of the server might also be affected in the afternoon hours.

One lakh expected to Register during extended period
It is expected that around 1 lakh candidates would register for CAT 2017 during 5 days extended CAT registration window from September 20 to September 25. This has made an everyday pressure of around 20 to 25 thousand candidates on registration site. A simple calculation can bring home this point that every year there are around 2 lakh candidates who register for CAT. While more than 1 lac had registered till September 20, about 90000 to 1 lac more are expected to finalise the registration by today, the closing date of September 25

Many yet to make payment
Candidates registering for CAT 2017 stop just before making payment of registration fee after entering and saving all other data to the CAT 2017 registration form since making payment of registration fee is the last step to registration process.

The fact that without making payment online, your CAT 2017 registration is not complete, requires you to complete this last step in CAT registration. Failing this, you will not be able to appear in CAT 2017 exam and will shatter your dream of doing MBA from IIMs.

All registrations at par: reason for last day rush
During the initial days after opening the CAT 2017 registration on August 9, 2017 the response remained lukewarm and no rush of CAT aspirants was there. It happened in earlier CAT exams also when the flexibility to choose the test centre and session was withdrawn. This trend has continued for CAT 2017 also.

The candidates begin thronging the CAT registration site during the last few days as they know that the early and late applicants will be treated at par. But this factor creates problem for those who prefer to register and make payment on the last day after weighing the pros and cons. This is the compelling reason to extend the last day of CAT 2017 registration.

Prof Neeraj Dwivedi, convener CAT 2017 also endorses this problem which is the biggest reason to extent the CAT 2017 registration last date “There are a number of candidates who have registered but have not been able to complete the applications.  We have extended the date to give them an opportunity to complete their applications and make payments.”

CAT fee payment: Last page delaying registration completion
Since the payment of fee is to be made after completion of all the details in the application form aspirants fill up the registration form for free, get their ID and Password and think of proceeding further later. This big change in the process of CAT registration brought about 3 years ago, has also prompted candidates to go for late registration.

But the implication of the move could be a problem for CAT 2017 aspirants as their registration fee payment during last few hours before the closing time for CAT registration, may get stuck in transit. Since no time is left to check the details and wait for the refund, the registration amount has to be paid again.

There are still 7-8 hours left for CAT registration and if you wish to apply for CAT 2017, it’s better to apply now as you may face more technical problems at the eleventh hour.

CAT 2017 exam, gateway to top MBA/PGDM programmes in India, will be held on Sunday November 26, 2017 in 2 sessions of 3 hours duration each in 144 test cities and around 650 testing venues. IIM Lucknow is the convener for CAT 2017 exam with TCS as partnering testing agency.
