Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), Greater Noida celebrated the 27th commencement day on June 14, 2014
"Build strong teams by inducting brighter team members, learn from mistakes and shun arrogance" Prabhu Chawla, Editorial Director, The New Indian Express Group

The 27th batch of PGDM program of Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), Greater Noida for the academic year 2014-16 commenced on June 14, 2014 with a new wave of freshness. In all 429 students have been admitted to the two year program with specialization in International Business, Insurance, Retail, and Sustainable Development stream that includes nearly 160 women candidates. This number is roughly higher than previous year’s enrolment by about 20 per cent.

While Dr. H Chaturvedi, Director of BIMTECH declared the ceremony open by addressing the gathering,  the Chief Guest Mr. Prabhu Chawla, Editorial Director of The New Indian Express Group delivered a thought provoking speech on the occasion.

The celebration day at BIMTECH began with prayer service. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Prabhu Chawla, began by sharing his life history and how a burning desire to achieve led him to taste success amidst adversities. From being a Pakistani refugee and school dropout, he fought for survival but never blamed his destiny. His philosophy is to “first survive, then thrive”. He feels blessed to be taught by stalwarts like Dr.Manmohan Singh, Dr. Amartya Sen.

Mr Chawla suggested the students to develop qualities to increase their market share in this competitive world and encouraged them to be driven by certain standard and ethics, not by profit only to be ridiculed as a money making entity. He quoted how TATA and Birlas earn profit and share with community. He shared the Mantra of being grateful to the team and a leader with convictions and advised management students to build strong teams by inducting brighter team members, learn from mistakes and shun arrogance. With the ‘Mantra’ of 3Cs of credibility, compatibility and connectivitystudents should become aware citizens of future and stop taking a recluse in their self- built silos by getting trapped in the world of internet and cell phone.

Dr. H Chaturvedi, Director of BIMTECH began with hope for ‘better days’ promised by the new Government and  how the new government is focusing on economic development, social investment, transparency and the 3Ss of skill, scale and speed. He praised the Indian media for exposing weak governance, critical political analysis, corruption and other ills.

Dr. Chaturvedi congratulated the students for choosing BIMTECH over 3,500 B-schools in India. He emphasized that BIMTECH is an industry backed b-school, from the house of Birla's. It is not owners driven but faculty and student driven college which started its journey in 1980. It is backed by 6,500 successful alumni and has been partnered with more than 70 foreign Universities/ B-schools. He further pointed the homogeneity of campus. There are students and faculties from around 25 states and celebrate this diversity. All the festivities are celebrated with togetherness and equality.

Dr Chaturvedi motivated the students by advising them to focus on marathon not sprint, commit for a career 25 years down the line and place futuristic goals. Quoting the examples of Indira Nooyi, Satya Nadella, Vishal Sikka, he emphasized consistency and 100% commitment is the key to success. He gave the mantra of “compete and win” with attitude and ethics with the promise to work together to bloom into achievers. He advised the students to imbibe in them the idea of “VUCA” - volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity to achieve success in their corporate career.

Dr Anupam Verma, Deputy Director, BIMTECH, in his thanks giving address reiterated the strong academic legacy and a deep commitment to excellence with values, being built by a 6,000 strong alumni of BIMTECH in the world of business and entrepreneurship globally.
