With a surprising volume of candidates, CAT 2015 registration which was extended by 5 more days from Sep 20 to Sep 25, 2015 stood closed at 11.59 PM. The registration count for CAT 2015 is up by 22 thousand candidates in comparison to registrations in CAT 2014. There were 1.97 lakhs candidates who registered for CAT 2014, the number has gone up to more than 2.18 lakhs for CAT 2015. Over 1 lakh candidates registered and applied for CAT 2015 just in 2 weeks.

The CAT 2015 registration which suddenly made an upward swing was quite surprising but the extension of 5 days has yielded desired result and with IIM Ahmedabad convening CAT 2015 after 5 years, the registration number has taken an upward trend keeping up with the glory of this top rated management institution.
It is a notable fact that there has been a sudden upward swing in CAT 2015 registration since Sep 13. Total CAT 2015 registrations as on Sep 13 were around 92000 and in a week’s time they went up to 1.60 lakhs on Sep 19, 2015. After that there has been a consistent increase number of CAT 2015 applicants as is evident by the total number with 218664 registrations as shared by CAT 2015 convener.
CAT 2015 registration was opened on August 6, and after allowing a 46 days registration window was proposed to be closed on Sunday Sep 20, 2015. But number of candidates missed their CAT 2015 registration and the registration data indicated that there was substantial decline in the number as compared to registration for CAT 2014. CAT Centre 2015 subsequently decided to extend the last date of CAT 2015 registration for another 5 days from Sep 20 to Sep 25, 2015 to cope up the number avoiding technical problems. The registration now finally stands closed with 218664 candidates registered for CAT 2015.
Weekend extension hope not fulfilled
Hundreds of CAT 2015 aspirants were raising queries whether CAT Centre 2015 would further extend the registration date at least for this weekend. MBAUniverse.com conveyed their concern to CAT 2015 convener who had categorically responded that no further extension in registration date was proposed. Numbers of candidates were planning to register for CAT 2015 this weekend more so that it has been a 3 day weekend from Friday Sep 25 beginning with Eid holiday.
There are 136 test cities and 650 test venues where CAT 2015 will be conducted in a single day on November 29, 2015 in morning and afternoon sessions. IIM Ahmedabad the CAT 2015 convening IIM has brought about this innovative change after 6 years of computerized CAT exam which was hitherto being held in multiple days and multiple sessions.
