IIM Ahmedabad has announced that the institute is set to launch several e-learning programs over the next few months.  The top B-school of India has tied up with NIIT and Hughes to deliver education in the form of synchronous studio-to-classroom programs.  The decision was taken on June 1, 2016 after taking cognisance of the fact that management education is going through dramatic changes, especially with regard to infusion of technology challenging the traditional content delivery model.

Over the years, e-learning has developed into a powerful tool as it facilitates transfer of knowledge without the barrier of distance, and gives participants the flexibility to learn at a place of their choosing. IIM Ahmeadabad will be launching both distance learning and blended learning programs through this initiative. Several Executive Education courses will also be a part of this e-learning model.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Ashish Nanda, Director, IIM Ahmedabad said "Information Technology is creating significant disruptions and opportunities in the higher-education sector. Increasingly, delivery of high-quality management education is becoming feasible through technology. IIMA is committed to innovating in this space and leveraging technology to provide the best quality educational experience to leaders that make a difference.”

IIM Ahmedabad  signed an agreement with Hughes on June 1, 2016 while an agreement with NIIT was reached earlier in May 2016.

Mr. Rahul Patwardhan, CEO, NIIT Ltd said, “We started working with IIM Ahmedabad in 2006, to offer quality executive management programs from the premier institute to young professionals across the country by leveraging NIIT’s pioneering Synchronous Learning Technology. As a leading player in educational technology in India, NIIT has been at the forefront of technological & pedagogical innovations in learning, keenly aware of the challenges that the higher education sector is faced with. Taking our association with IIMA forward, we will continue to work towards developing innovative learning models to deliver their management programs at scale, by providing best-in-class technology-based solutions.”

NIIT and Hughes are well-known names in the domain of distance education. IIM Ahmeadabad selected the institutes after a thorough selection process.

“Hughes has been the pioneer & in the forefront of Interactive Onsite Learning (IOL) technology in India since 2002, with more than 25,000 Alumni. Hughes is extremely proud & honoured to be associated with IIM Ahmedabad, in their quest to spread premium Class Apart Learning to remote locations in India. Hughes looks up to this tie up to take top curriculums, programs and esteemed faculty of IIM Ahmedabad to the prospective students across India” said Mr Partho Banerjee, President & Managing Director of Hughes.

IIMAhmeadabad has consistently been ranked as the number one management school in the country year after year in the last several years. In 2008, IIMA also became the first business school in the country to be awarded EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) accreditation. This accreditation awarded by the EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development) certifies that the quality of IIMA’s academic processes and programmes are on par with the best business schools globally that have similar accreditation.

IIM Ahmedabad has brought about many changes and innovations in its PGP, PGP-FABM, and PGPX programs effective from academic session 2015-16.
