Admission policy at new IIMs for PGP 2017-19 is bringing new hope for admission to hundreds of CAT 2016 test takers who have scored between 80 to 90 percentile in CAT exam. New IIMs are now amending their admission policy for reasonably good percentilers in CAT 2016 and the candidates can expect to get into an IIM without appearing in GD-PI round.

2 newest IIMs namely IIM Jammu and IIM Sirmaur mentored by IIM Lucknow would not conduct the GD-PI round for admission to PGP 2017-19 batch. IIM Sirmaur and IIM Jammu final admission offers for PGP 2017-19 batch will be made only on the basis of CAT 2016 scores and profile of the candidate.

Not only the great and aspirant friendly change made by IIM Sirmaur and IIM Jammu not to conduct GD/PI, the B-school has put its admission process for 2017 on hold and will finalize it sometime in April/May 2017 when it will be asking the candidates to express their interest for admission.

IIM Sirmaur and IIM Jammu will be asking for expression of interest after which merit list will be prepared as per the guidelines stated in the admission policy document.

For admission 2017, IIM Sirmaur and IIM Jammu have kept the minimum qualifying percentile in CAT 2016 to 80. Apart from the overall percentile, the required sectional percentile in CAT 2016 score has also been kept at 75.

Admission Criteria
IIM Sirmaur began its operation from August 2015 while IIM Jammu started the 1st batch in August 2016.  Admission criteria for the PGP 2016-18 batch at IIM Sirmaur and IIM Jammu also required 80  overall and 75 sectional percentile. The same admission policy is proposed to remain applicable for 2017-19.

Final Admission offer
The score generated after assigning the weights will be doubled to make it on a scale of 100 and necessary merit list will be generated to make final admission offer.

Selection at this stage will be based on the ranks of the candidates computed separately for each category (General/SC/ST/NC-OBC/DAP) on the basis of their Final Scores (FS).

All activities at IIM Sirmaur and IIM Jammu will continue to be mentored by IIM Lucknow till it moves to its permanent campus (about 3 years later). During the mentorship period and while IIM Sirmaur's & IIM Jammu’s own faculty are recruited, faculty members from IIM Lucknow will be delivering courses at IIM Sirmaur.

The temporary campus of IIM Sirmaur is situated at Himachal Institute of Technology, Near Dental College, Rampur Ghat Road, Paonta Sahib, Distt Sirmaur, H.P – 173025. Poanta Sahib is an industrial town in the south of Sirmaur district. National Highway 72 goes through this town. The river Yamuna passes through the town

The site for permanent campus of IIM Sirmaur was finalised months back with an appx area of 10000 sq. yards at Daula Kuan in Paonta Sahib Sub Division of Sirmaur District.

IIM Jammu joined the IIM family as the 20th IIM of the country. The temporary campus of IIM Jammu will be at Government College of Engineering and Technology, Old University Campus, Kanal Road, Jammu, J&K – 180016. The campus is in the heart of the city in the university campus.
