CAT 2014: Number is up
The registration count for CAT 2014 is up by 2 thousand candidates in comparison to registrations in CAT 2013. There were 1.95 lakhs candidates who registered for CAT 2013, the number has gone up to 1.97 lakhs for CAT 2014. Over 7.1 thousand candidates registered and applied for CAT 2014 in a single day.
Earlier when the registration for CAT 2014 was closed on September 30, 2014 the registration count was 1.90 lakhs which was less by 5 thousand candidates as compared to CAT 2013. Now it is up by 2 thousand.
The need for reopening the Registration
Registration and application process for CAT 2014 was closed on September 30, 2014 just before midnight. Due to the technical glitches on the last day of registration and due to suspension of registration window on Sep 28 to 29, 2014, number of CAT 2014 aspirants were not able to register and apply for CAT 2014.
They sent the mails, contacted the help desk and requested to reopen the CAT 2014 registration window. This led to reopening of CAT 2014 registration for one day. Emphasizing the fact Dr Rohit Kapoor, CAT 2014 convener said “We have been given to understand that few candidates faced difficulties during the last day of submission of CAT 2014 application, i.e., on 30th September 2014 owing to failures in internet connection, net banking transactions etc. Based on the emails received from the affected candidates, we are opening the window for one day to apply and complete the registration and/or application”
No glitches on Oct 10
CAT 2014 registration site was reopened for one day on October 10, 2014 at 00 hours. Thousands of candidates were waiting to register and apply for CAT 2014 in the early hours on reopening of single day window on October 10, 2014. Apprehensive that CAT 2014 registration site might begin posing some technical problems, candidates were keen to register as early as possible.
All these apprehensions were given to a rest when Dr Rohit Kapoor shared with MBAUniverse.com on the registration day “Don't Panic, servers are designed to take care of the load”.
Accordingly right from 00 hours till mid night on October 10, 2014 candidates did not face any technical problems in the process of CAT 2014 registration and application. Eventually a record number of 7100 aspirants registered for CAT 2014 in a single day.
The opportunity for CAT 2014 with the reopening of registration window on Oct 10, 2014 was not anticipated and when it came it was a pleasant surprise for most of the aspirants who couldn’t register earlier. The registration process was although same but more candidates were able to apply as 14 years of study upto graduation degree was also allowed for CAT 2014 registration.
