Throwing away the fear and apprehension of technical issues and other procedural problems due to high turn out on the second day of CAT 2014 exam, TCS the first timer testing agency conducting any CAT exam has created history in starting the first session of second day CAT 2014 on Nov 22, 2014 on time at 9.30 AM. The reporting time for the 9.30 AM exam was 7.30AM and candidates in large number gathered at the exam centre at the reporting time.
No report so far has been received about any problem due to which CAT 2014 couldn’t begin on time. CAT 2014 is convened by IIM Indore in partnership with testing agency TCS. TCS has been preferred to Prometric that has earlier been conducting CAT for past 5 years. The testing window for CAT 2014 has been reduced from 20 days to 2 days.
Apprehension of technical problems that could come up in starting the exam or during the CAT 2014 exam was looming large but the CAT 2014 conducting IIM Indore and the testing agency TCS ensured that all such apprehensions are belied. The smooth and free from technical problem CAT 2014 has created history since earlier CAT exams during the past few years suffered from one or other technical problem at one or other centre. The achievement is more important as number of test cities is more than twice in CAT 2014 with even more number of test centres to manage. This has also asked for the accommodation of more number of test takers in each of the 4 sessions at every test centre.
Candidates gathered in good number at the CAT 2014 exam centre at Greater Noida in the cool morning even before 7.30 AM on November 22, 2014 to brave the first session on second day of CAT 2014. The reporting time for CAT 2014 is 2 hours before the beginning of the exam implying that the first session of CAT 2014 was to begin at 9.30 AM and candidates were asked to report at 7.30 AM.
Gates of the exam centre were opened at 7.35 AM. Candidates who arrived till 8.30 or even a little late were also frisked with security check and were allowed to enter the testing room. Test Centre closed its gates at 9.15 AM although a few candidates were allowed to go inside as a special case. The queue got formed before the security check point. However, it continued moving and by 8.30 most of the test takers were cleared to report before their respective testing room where they were supposed to take the exam. The handling at the test centre was smooth enough with no complaints from any test taker.
More testing rooms were prepared at the examination centre to accommodate more number of candidates. Most of the test takers preferred to go to the washroom before entering the testing lab.
The doors of the testing room were closed at 9.15 AM although a few candidates still continued coming in. The invigilator in the testing lab read out the instructions and clearly advised the candidates not to touch the key board as it could lock the system.
The first session on the second day of CAT 2014 began on time reassuring the candidates that they should focus on their test instead of anticipating any fear of disruption during the exam. The exam as per the reports received from various regions is running smoothly and is expected to be over with no technical or other problem.
