Along with the issuance of Admit Cards on October 19, 2014, CAT Centre 2014 has also launched the CAT 2014 `Test Day Video`
CAT 2014 aspirants going to take the test either in morning or afternoon session will have to report 2 hrs before the start of exam
Along with the issuance of Admit Cards on October 19, 2014, CAT Centre 2014 has also launched the CAT 2014 ‘Test Day Video’ which reveals number of do’s and don’ts for the test takers. One of such prominent changes over the past CAT years is the change in reporting time from 90 minutes to 120 minutes prior to beginning of the test.

The guidance shared in the test day Video is important as well as helpful for the CAT 2014 test takers on November 16 and 22, 2014.  A few important guidelines shared by CAT 2014 centre are as follows

Take Print of Admit Card

CAT 2014 test day Video specifically advises to  download and take print of your admit card on A4 size paper  without fail.  Admit card is mandatory requirement to take CAT 2014 test and without its hard copy affixed with your recent passport size photograph, you will not be allowed to enter the examination centre.  Please therefore remember to do the needful

Reporting time is 2 hrs before the test

There will be 2 sessions each on November 16 and November 22, 2014 of CAT 2014 test. The morning session will be from 9.30 AM to 12.20 PM while afternoon session will be from 3 PM to 5.50PM. CAT 2014 aspirants going to take the test either in morning or afternoon session will have to report 2 hrs before the start of exam at the test centre. While candidates for morning session will have to report at the test centre at 7.30 AM  and those who are scheduled for afternoon session are required to report at 1.00 PM at the CAT 2014 exam centre.  It is categorically stated in the test day video that late comers will not be allowed to take the test.

This is a significant change over the past CAT exams since till CAT 2013, the candidates were supposed to report one and a half hour before the start of test.  On the top of it, CAT in earlier years included 15 minutes’ tutorial before the start of the exam. Candidates will miss this facility in CAT 2014.

Visit the Exam Centre a day before

CAT 2014 centre has advised the candidates to visit the exam centre a day before the test to know the route, availability of transport, distance from place of stay/residence,  so that no problem arises on the exam day.

Please note CAT 2014 conducting IIMs or testing agency will not provide in special travel arrangements nor will reimburse any expenses in this regard. Candidates will have to make their own travel and accommodation arrangements.

Two most important documents

The CAT 2014 test day Video has advised candidates to check before leaving for the exam that they have kept with them their ID proof and the hard copy of CAT 2014 Admit Card as per the instructions contained in the print out of the downloaded Admit Card.

Nothing extra allowed inside the Exam centre

You will not be allowed inside the exam  centre carrying even the small articles, like eatables, watch, mobile phone, stationery of any type. Therefore avoid bringing them.  CAT 2014 exam centre may not have the storage facility for such items nor they take any responsibility in case of loss. It is also advisable not to carry bags or valuables to the testing centres.

No one to accompany you

If any one is accompanying you to the CAT 2014 exam centre, he/she will not be allowed to enter the exam centre. Besides there may not be any facility for your companions to wait somewhere outside. Please take note of this and request your friend/relative not to accompany you to the exam centre.

It may be unnecessary also since you have already visited the test centre a day before the exam.

Verification of documents

At the test centre, a CAT 2014 volunteer will verify your Admit Card, ID proof and will guide you to the Notice Board.

Outside the Test Lab

The notice board will have the details like your registration number and test lab. Once you reach the test lab, your seating location along with the system number will be displayed  outside the test lab.

Inside the Test Lab

The invigilator inside the test lab will capture your left hand thumb impression, photograph and will ask you to sign the attendance sheet.

You are supposed to have uniform signature as the same will be verified against the Admit card and the ID Proof. Any discrepancy in your signature may create problem.

Stationery for rough work

You will be provided pen and paper for rough work. You are supposed to mention your name, registration number and system number on the said paper.   The rough sheet will have to be returned to the invigilator after the test is over.   The invigilator will read out the instructions for the test takers.

CAT 2014 is providing with the pen while earlier CAT exams provided the candidates with the pencil, eraser and paper.  Whatever was written on the rough paper was used to be erased. This is another prominent change proposed in CAT 2014 test.

Important testing lab instructions

Following testing lab instructions are contained in the CAT 2014 test day video

-You will be disqualified from the CAT 2014 test, if you attempt to appear more than oncefor the exam

-You need to write your name and registration number on the rough sheet

-Use the mouse to mark the answer

-Do not touch the key board, the system will get locked

-Do not disturb other candidates

-You will not be allowed to take a bio break

Guide to login

Before the start of test Invigilator will guide you how to login, how to proceed with the test. It is advised to read carefully the instructions on how to mark your answers. You will not be allowed to leave the examination hall before the test is completed.  Total time to complete the CAT 2014 test is 170 minutes. Test will contain 100 questions equally divided in 2 sections of Quant & DI and Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning containing 50 questions each.

The test will have negative marking system also, hence the CAT 2014 test day Video suggests to choose carefully the answer options.
