MICA has announced commencement of new academic session 2015-17 for Post Graduate Diploma in Management-Communications programme (PGDM-C) on June 30, 2015. Concurrently, they have also announced batches for Fellow Programme in Management – Communications (FPM) and Post Graduate Certificate Programme in Crafting Creative Communication (CCC). A total of 191 of the three flagship programmes: PGDM-C (162 students), FPM-C (5 students) and CCC (24 students) joined the renowned student fraternity of MICA.

The PGDM-C 2015-17 batch witnessed a phenomenal increase of 20% in the intake of non-engineering students and 5% in the female students as compared to last year’s programme. The students selected for the program come from 21 states across India thus contributing to the diversity factor.

Speaking on the rigorous selection process and academic diversity at MICA Dr. Nagesh Rao, President & Director MICA said, “We have not changed any selection criteria but we have consciously reached out to non-engineering universities and institutes in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities to bring in more diversity at MICA. Of course, that was followed by the merit of each student. We approached several universities and colleges, including Delhi University, LSR, NIFT and pitched for the institute. So the visibility of the institute really helped us achieve diversity. Diversity in a batch is very important as students from diverse fields get to share ideas, thoughts and perception in the two years at MICA.”

The curriculum of the PGDM-C programme involves exposure to contemporary information, skills and knowledge in the Strategic Marketing and Communication domains. MICA students are equipped to manage business communication processes holistically. This includes the commissioning of research, seeking consumer insights, formulating strategies, evaluating media options, analysing sales and distribution channels. MICAns thereby emerge as effective professionals who aid building brand equity creatively, by sowing ideas and harvesting pragmatic solutions.

The FPM is an AICTE approved doctoral programme in the communication discipline while CCC is a one year programme with a specialization in Crafting Copywriting or Art Direction, depending on the module chosen by the student. The FPM programme is aimed at middle-level communication professionals and scholars. The fellows here undertake research in the fields of marketing communication, communication and social change, communication and cultural studies and new media and communication. The main objective of CCC is to develop students into high calibre professionals for creative careers in Marketing Communication.

MICA also scheduled special orientation programme for all its new students in PGP, CCC and FPM wherein the students were familiarized with the campus environment and facilities and taught basic courses like “Workshop on Appreciating Differences”, “Managerial Communication” and “Introduction to Incubator Programme.”
