Mudra Institute of Communication Ahmedabad (MICA) has announced that it will be accepting the scores of CAT 2011, after having shunned the exam for two years.

Mudra Institute of Communication Ahmadabad (MICA) has announced that it will be accepting the scores of CAT 2011, after having shunned the exam for two years.
For the admission of the batch 2012-14, candidates will have to apply through their CAT 2011 scores and the short listed candidates will have to appear for the MICAT exam followed by Group Exercise and Personal Interview.

According to Associate Director of MICA, Dr. Arbind Sinha, the reason for going back to accepting the CAT scores is the AICTE notification released in December 2010 that for admission to any management institute, the scores of the national MBA entrance exams like CAT, XAT, MAT or ATMA has to be considered.
He also mentioned that MICA is also planning to register MICAT so that the institute is able to consider only MICAT for selecting the students.

Selection Procedure
Prior to 2009, MICA used to accept CAT scores for the selection of the candidates which was followed by the MICAT and GE & PI. In 2009 the CAT had went computer based and the exam faced severe technical glitches which forced MICA to shun the CAT scores and host MICAT as the common entrance exam for MICA.

The selection process of MICA has two stages, MICAT and GE and PI. The first stage is MICAT, a written exam of two-and-a-half hour's duration with three parts. The first part tests the candidates on the sections of Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Verbal Ability. The second part is a Psychometric test and the part three is a Creative Ability test.

In MICAT 2010, there were 174 questions in total. In the Part one of the test, there was 1/4 negative marking for each wrong answer. "The MICAT is designed to assess analytical ability, divergent thinking, written communication skills and general awareness about the Communications industry," says MICA.
The second stage is GE and PI which will be conducted after MICAT. MICA will short list the candidates for appearing in the GE and PI on the basis of the performance in MICAT 2011.

The flagship program at MICA is Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Communications) or PGDMC. The eligibility criterion for the program is a Bachelor’s Degree with minimum 50 per cent marks. Candidates appearing for the final year of the Bachelor’s Degree are also eligible.
For all those who aspire to get admitted in MICA should apply for CAT 2011 right now as the registrations are currently on.
