EDI Ahmedabad gets international recognition for its entrepreneurship MBA

Ahmedabad based Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI) has bagged theUnited States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) Outstanding Entrepreneurship Program Abroad Award 2014 for its Post Graduate Diploma in Management-Business Entrepreneurship (PGDM-BE) programme under the ‘Excellence in Entrepreneurship Education Awards’ category. The award was conferred at the annual conference of the USASBE in Texas, USA on January 9-12. EDI emerged as the winner beating Institute of Business Administration, Karachi, Pakistan; Queens University, Belfast, UK and the Center for Entrepreneurship, Moscow, Russia.
 
The USASBE Award nomination process involved two rounds. Applicants were shortlisted based on on-line self nominations comprising a brief nominee information package including an executive summary at the first nomination round. Despite a record number of submissions this year EDI’s PGDM-BE programme was featured among four shortlisted finalists during the first round. All four finalists present their case of the nominated programme in front of the jury in USA. On behalf of EDI, Dr. Sunil Shukla presented the PGDM-BE programme. Impressing the judges with its quality, uniqueness, comprehensiveness, innovativeness, strong impact and its sustainable, replicable model.PGDM-BE aims to create first generation entrepreneurs, growth drivers of family businesses and entrepreneurs or corporate entrepreneurs.

Set up in 1983, EDI is an autonomous and not-for-profit Institute that is sponsored by India’s apex financial institutions - the IDBI Bank Ltd., IFCI Ltd., ICICI Bank Ltd. and State Bank of India (SBI). Recently, EDI's Post Graduate Diploma in Management- Business Entrepreneurship (PGDM-BE) programme received accreditation from National Board of Accreditation for PGDM-BE programme for 3 years from September, 2013.

As per ‘AICTE-CII Best Industry Linked Technical Institute in India 2013’ survey report, while XLRI Jamshedpur emerged as the Best Industry-Linked Institute in Management, Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI), Gandhinagar, Gujarat, not only qualified as one of the 37 shortlisted Institutes for Jury visit but also featured as the only established Management Institute from the central region.

The Association of Indian Universities (AIU)’s Governing Council also accorded equivalence to EDI’s PGDM-BE programme with M.B.A. degree of an Indian University for a period of five years in 2013.

United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) is an independent, professional, academic organization dedicated towards advancing the discipline of entrepreneurship. It has about more than 1000 members from universities and colleges, for-profit businesses, nonprofit organizations, and the public sector.
