IIMA conference to disseminate research findings and trends in marketing

IIM-A will hold the 4th IIMA Conference on Marketing in Emerging Economies from January 5-7, 2011.
 

IIM-Ahmadabad will be holding the 4th IIMA Conference on Marketing in Emerging Economies from January 5-7, 2011, as part of its ongoing golden jubilee celebrations. The objective of the conference is to bring together eminent academicians and practitioners worldwide to discuss and share their ideas and research with some of the best in the world. The conference is being supported by Prof. Labdhi R. Bhandhari Memorial Fund, IIMA.

Prof. Samir K Baruah, IIMA Director, will inaugurate the conference on January 6, 2011. Prof. Johny K. Johansson, Professor of International Business at the McDonough School of Business, Georgetown University will deliver the keynote address. Prof. Kannan Srinivasan, Rohet Tolani Distinguished Professor of International Business at Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon will deliver the concluding address on January 7, 2011.

 

Members of the conference coordination committee comprising of Profs. Abhinandan Kumar Jain, Anand Kumar Jaiswal, Arvind Sahay and Piyush Kumar Sinha stated, “Over the last six years, the conference has become a recognized leading platform to disseminate research pertaining to Marketing in Emerging Economies. We are very happy to witness the increase in participation. With an acceptance rate of 25%, it ranks among the best conferences in the world.”

Panel discussions on “Global Brand Building by Emerging Market Multinationals: Challenges and Solutions” and “Marketing in Emerging Economies – Agenda for Research” will be held on January 6 and 7, respectively.

The conference will have 20 tracks, covering a broad range of relevant topics such as Consumer behavior, Pedagogy in Marketing; Management of marketing offers; Ecommerce; Marketing research; Marketing communication, Retailing, Psychology & marketing, Experimentation in marketing, Applied IO models on competition in marketing; Strategies for harnessing the potential at the bottom of the pyramid; Strategic marketing and Marketing of services.

The conference has witnessed a substantial increase in the number of abstract submissions. For 2011, there were 441 abstracts as compared to 257 in 2009, 206 in 2007 and 107 in 2005. The number of participating countries has also increased to 23 in 2011, as compared to 18 in 2007, 17 in 2007 and 15 in 2005. Submissions came from countries such as Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Korea, Netherlands, Pakistan, Portugal, Rwanda, South Africa, Spain, Sultanate of Oman, UAE, Vietnam, UK, USA and India.
