Dr Shekhar Chaudhuri, Former Director, IIM Calcutta
Management education doyen Dr Shekhar Chaudhuri was the Director of IIM Calcutta for two consecutive terms. During his tenure at IIM Calcutta, the Institute went through a transformational change and became the first IIM to earn AACSB Accreditation. IIM Calcutta is India’s only B-school to be triple accredited by AACSB, EFMD and AMBA.
Dr Chaudhuri is a B. Tech (Hons) from IIT Kharagpur and Fellow in Management from IIM Ahmedabad. After a brief stint in the industry, in 1981, Chaudhuri moved into academics and joined his alma-mater IIM Ahmedabad. He worked at IIM-A till 2000. In November 2002, Dr Chaudhuri joined IIM Calcutta as the Director and served for two consecutive terms of five years from November 25, 2002 till April, 8 2013. Dr Chaudhuri is currently the Director of Calcutta Business School.
