IMI commences new session with a 15-month executive programme

The new academic session at Delhi based International Management Institute (IMI) will commence from June 28, but the preparatory courses in maths and statistics, accountancy and computers are currently in progress.

The institute has also decided to replace its one-year Post-Graduate Programme in International Management (PGPIM) with a 15-month executive Post-graduate Program in Management (PGDM).IMI has got the approval of the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) for the same.

Speaking to MBAUniverse.com, Dr C S Venkata Ratnam, Director IMI said, “We have received the approval of AICTE to a launch 15-month Executive Post-graduate Program in Management. It is a post-experience program where up to one-third of the students are from developing countries in Asia and Africa.” 

IMI currently offers four management programs: two of them are there are full-time programs, one part-time program and the new executive program. The batch sizes at IMI will remain the same as last year. Informs Dr Ratnam, “There will be 120 students in the two-year full time post graduate diploma in management, and 60 in each of the two-year full time postgraduate diploma in management Human Resource (PGDM-HR), the three-year part time PGDM and newly launched 15-month executive PGDM.”

IMI’s curriculum is designed to prepare the participants to manage, lead and succeed in an increasingly competitive global business environment. When asked about updates and changes in curriculum, Dr Ratnam said, “Major changes are made in the curriculum once in three years. Minor changes are made every year based on feedback from students, alumni, recruiters and faculty. The institute has an advisory council comprising alumni, academics from IMI and other institutes, and recruiters.”

IMI also holds periodic workshops on teaching and research in different subjects. This year, it is organizing a workshop on teaching and research in ethics and governance.
