TAPMI Manipal appoints Prof Madhu Veeraraghavan as its new Director; takes over from Dr. Gururaj Kidiyoor

The T. A. Pai Management Institute, Manipal TAPMI) has got Professor Madhu Veeraraghavan as its new Director on April 03, 2017. Prof. Veeraraghavan joined the institute in June 2013 and holds the T. A. Pai Chair Professor of Finance. He obtained his B.Com from university of Mumbai and an MBA (Finance & Investments) and PhD (Finance –Asset Pricing) from Australia. Prof. Veeraraghavan was instrumental in setting up the Largest Finance Lab at TAPMI with 16 Bloomberg terminals.

His teaching interests are Behavioural Finance and Corporate Finance and his research interests are in Asset Pricing, Behavioural Finance, Corporate Finance, Corporate Governance and Funds Management and the interplay between Auditing and Finance.

Prof Madhu Veeraraghavan has held positions at The University of Auckland Business School and Monash University, Melbourne before joining TAPMI. Prof. Veeraraghavan has published over 50 papers in international journals and has presented his work in top conferences in finance and accounting. His work has appeared in Top ranked Journals such as; The Accounting Review, Contemporary Accounting Research, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Empirical Finance, Journal of Banking and Finance and Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory.

Dr. H. S. Ballal, Pro-Chancellor, Manipal University, member of Governing council and Trustee of TAPMI, said that the Management will extend their full support to the new Director. Prof. Veeraraghavan assured to provide his 110% in taking the institute to greater heights. Dr. Gururaj Kidiyoor, the outgoing Director- in charge wished him all the very best for his future endeavors while handing over to the new Director.

TAPMI, located in the international university town of Manipal (Karnataka), is among the leading management institutes in India, and is reputed for its Academic Rigour, Assurance of Learning: Outcome Based Learning standards. Founded by Late Shri. T. A. Pai, in 1980, TAPMI’s mission is to build professional management capability in the country.

TAPMI commenced its 2 year residential PG program in Management in 1984. TAPMI has also earned global accreditation by AACSB International. It is the first AICTE approved Private B-School in India to achieve this distinguished hallmark of excellence.

Placement 2017 at TAPMI has been spectacular. All 445 students from the batch of 2015-17 of TAPMI have found most suitable placements. All the students from the three full time AICTE approved post graduate programs; PGDM, PGDM-Banking & Financial Services and PGDM-Healthcare secured plum jobs in corporate India. The year saw companies from a wide range of sectors such as Banking, Manufacturing, ITES, Consulting, FMCG and Logistics participating the process. In all, about 130 companies participated in the placement process.

This year’s placement process also saw many new companies visiting TAPMI to choose the best managerial talent. The average package for the batch went up to Rs. 10.05 lakhs from last year’s Rs. 9.23 lakhs.
