MBAUniverse.com: What was your overall preparation strategy for CAT 2016/ XAT 2017?
Rajat (CAT topper): I started my preparation for XAT 2017 four months before the exam date. I joined the TIME test series. I used to give one or two tests every week and thoroughly analyzed my mock test answer sheets, based on which I came to know my strengths/weakness and worked on the topics where I wasn’t up to the mark.
MBAUniverse.com: How did you prepare for IRMASAT? Please share your strategy? How much did you score in it?
Rajat (CAT topper): I regularly read the newspaper(the Hindu) and books which helped me in IRMASAT.I scored 20 marks in it.
MBAUniverse.com: What would you suggest to IRMA aspirants to prepare for IRMASAT 2018?
Rajat (CAT topper): - Regularly read newspaper and stay informed about the current events.
-Be aware of the government schemes especially rural ones.
MBAUniverse.com: Please share your sectional preparation strategy for CAT 2016/XAT 2017? How did you prepare for each section VARC, DILR, Quant? What study materials and books did you use?
Rajat (CAT topper): VA/RC – I solved Time study material. Regularly reading newspaper/ books, mock test series helped me a lot in getting a good score.
DI/LR- I focused on Time study material and mock test for this.
Quant- I mainly focussed on my calculation speed as my basic concept of quant was good due to my background and solved different type of questions.
MBAUniverse.com: Was there any particular section that you were weak at? How did you overcome this challenge?
Rajat (CAT topper): I was weak in VA/RC. I devoted more time for that and tried to solve more and more RC’s/Para jumbles/Para completion exercises and also started reading books/newspaper to increase my comprehension and inferential ability and also my reading speed.
MBAUniverse.com: How can candidates use Mock tests better? What is your advice?
Rajat (CAT topper): Review all the tests you give to identify your weaknesses and spend at least 4-6 hours in assessing the test . That is important so that you can work on those weaknesses specifically.
MBAUniverse.com: Other than CAT/XAT, which exam did you appear?
Rajat (CAT topper): IIFT(97%) and SNAP(98.1).
MBAUniverse.com: Which institutes did you apply for admission and which institutes offered you admission?
Rajat (CAT topper): I got admission in IMI New Delhi,IRMA, SCMHRD, TAPMI, FORE, SIIB, XIMB(HR).
MBAUniverse.com: Please share your strategy for the CAT/XAT Day. What was your last-minute preparation? How did you plan your CAT/XAT test taking?
Rajat (CAT topper): By the time I was going for XAT, I had prepared all the sections and was intending to attempt as much question as possible. First I solved easy questions then average difficulty level question and in last tricky and difficult questions.
MBAUniverse.com: Which B-school you decided upon and why?
Rajat (CAT topper): I chose IRMA as this is a B-school which is unique in many respects. Being from a fairly rural background myself, I have seen and experienced the issues which farmers face in their day to day lives. This is a course which channels management study towards a social cause. Thus, I could relate more with IRMA’s mission as it aligned with my aspirations.
MBAUniverse.com: Any message you would like to share with the candidates preparing for CAT 2017/XAT 2018 and for IRMASAT 2018?
Rajat (CAT topper): Study Hard .Just focus on your study , don’t think about the result as result/fruits of your action is not in your hand as stated in Bhagwad Gita.

Jhalak Agrawal
Exam score : 83.59 percentileJhalak Agrawal has done B.Com (Hons.). She is a fresher and got admission in IRMA without any work experience. Jhalak Agrawal belongs to Guwahati. Her Father is a Businessman and her Mother is a housewife. She has younger brother and sister.
Determined to crack CAT with high percentile, Jhalak Agrawal appeared in CAT exam and scored 83.59 percentile and in XAT exam scored 98.225 percentile. She also scored 18 in IRMASAT.
She has interest in reading novels, watching movies and travelling.

MBAUniverse.com: What was your overall preparation strategy for CAT 2016/ XAT 2017?
Jhalak (CAT topper): I prepared for XAT along with the preparation of CAT. My preparation started from the month of July. My focus was just to cover all the topics of CAT prescribed generally since I also had my college from 10 to 5.
MBAUniverse.com: How did you prepare for IRMASAT? Please share your strategy? How much did you score in it?
Jhalak (CAT topper): I looked into various information on internet regarding literacy in different states, poverty in India, various schemes implemented etc. My score was 18 out of 40.
MBAUniverse.com: What would you suggest to IRMA aspirants to prepare for IRMASAT 2018?
Jhalak (CAT topper): Be clear about the basic knowledge of the above topics and look into the places where the schemes are implemented.
MBAUniverse.com: Please share your sectional preparation strategy for CAT 2016/XAT 2017? How did you prepare for each section VARC, DILR, Quant? What study materials and books did you use?
Jhalak (CAT topper): I purchased a Byju’s tablet and used it and the study material that came along with it. For RC, I focused on why my chosen answer was wrong and a particular answer correct. The level of DILR and Quant in CAT was quite high for me which justifies my low score in the same. In XAT I could solve the questions easily.
MBAUniverse.com: Was there any particular section that you were weak at? How did you overcome this challenge?
Jhalak (CAT topper): Yes, I think I was weak in all three sections of CAT and still am in DILR and Quant. I overcame my weakness in VARC by practicing number of cases.
MBAUniverse.com: How can candidates use Mock tests better? What is your advice?
Jhalak (CAT topper): One should make full use of mock tests. They prepare you in a way in which I was never prepared. I took just one mock test before the day of CAT exam and didn’t finish it.I am not habitual to looking at computer screen except for watching movies. Even staring at computer screen for 3 hours on the day of exam was a chore for me.
MBAUniverse.com: Did you go to offline coaching centre? What role does a coaching centre play?
Jhalak (CAT topper): No, I did not go to an offline coaching centre. I think a coaching centre saves you time that I wasted going through the syllabus only and better prepares you for the exam with the number of mock tests they give.
MBAUniverse.com: Other than CAT/XAT, which exam did you appear?
Jhalak (CAT topper): I did not appear for any other exam other than CAT/XAT.
MBAUniverse.com: Which institutes did you apply for admission and which institutes offered you admission?
Jhalak (CAT topper): I applied to all the IIM’s and IRMA and converted only IRMA.
MBAUniverse.com: Please share your strategy for the CAT/XAT Day. What was your last-minute preparation? How did you plan your CAT/XAT test taking?
Jhalak (CAT topper): I wasn’t done with all the topics till the exam of CAT. Till XAT exam I had covered everything and went with a cool mind after a good night’s sleep
MBAUniverse.com: Please share your GD/WAT topics & PI questions at different institutes and the ones who offered you admission?
Jhalak (CAT topper): In IRMA, there was a group activity where two cases were discussed. The cases were related to management activities. In PI questions were asked regarding current affairs and the literacy in India.
MBAUniverse.com: Which B-school you decided upon and why?
Jhalak (CAT topper): I decided to join IRMA as it is the pioneer of Rural Management and I like to learn things from the scratch.
MBAUniverse.com: Any message you would like to share with the candidates preparing for CAT 2017/XAT 2018 and for IRMASAT 2018?
Jhalak (CAT topper): Try to complete the syllabus on time and practice by taking as many mock tests as you can.

Umang Agarwal

Ph.D in Animal Sciences
A Ph.D. in Animal Sciences from University of Maryland, Umang has six years of experience in animal and human nutrition research in the US. He worked with multiple animal species and humans to understand the partitioning of nutrients for increased production efficiency (in animals), and to understand the mechanisms of disease (in humans).
He believes that practical scientific interventions, coupled with the best management practices, are required to bring about a successful large-scale impact in the agribusiness sector. Towards this end, a PGP-FABM degree would make him a technical generalist who understands the scientific nuisances of the business along with the big picture of the food and agri-business sector.

Rashmi Teltumbde is from Mumbai. She finished her undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University in the US as BBA in Economics and Management in 2014 and has 14 academic awards there. She has a work experience of 28 months in Nettech Pvt Ltd as a Business Development Executive.
Being a professional tennis player, she has represented the country in 3 junior Grand Slams (two Australian Open and US Open) and also captained the junior Indian Fed Cup team. In her free time, she likes to coach tennis to kids, cook and travel. She believes a degree from IIMA would equip and ensure her goals would be reached quickly.

Pursuing MBA to help convert his ideas into actions, Ozair has previously interned with a start-up on a project funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Kanishka Khaire

Innovator : Designer of Automatic watering system
The critical issue of public hygiene and sanitation & the ‘Swatchh Bharat Mission’ inspired Kanishka to think about these problems and build a practical solution. During his under-graduation, he designed an Automatic watering system for Urinals in collaboration with his professor. It has since been patented and published in the Indian Patent Journal.
A civil services aspirant, he sees himself contributing towards public policy in the long run. He decided to pursue management as he believes that managerial expertise is essential for effective implementation of government's policy.

Girish Baj

CoEP, Pune Graduate: Member, Satellite Launch Team of ‘Swayam’
An engineer from College of Engineering, Pune, Girish was a part of the college team that developed a student satellite ‘Swayam’ which was launched in space in coordination with ISRO. They also developed an earth station for communicating with satellites in space.
Girish believes the projects are a result of sustained team effort and commitment and should motivate more innovations and wonders from the youth. He chose to do study management as a blend of technology with management would make a perfect combination for future leaders and innovators.

Award winning Cinematographer & moviemaker
C.S.Prakhyat is a self-taught internationally acclaimed filmmaker with a very diverse portfolio consisting of documentaries, short films, music videos, advertisements and promo videos, all of which can be found on his Vimeo channel: The C.S.Prakhyat Experience. He has made 9 award-winning short films which have fetched him 17 International Film Festival selections, spanning the USA, UK, Canada, Slovenia and India. For this feat, he has been accredited with an IMDB page.
His decision behind joining MBA was to learn how to manage a film crew better and to develop a marketing acumen to increase the outreach of his films. When he isn’t shooting his next piece de resistance, he actively participates in quizzes and occasionally hosts them as well.

A fashion design graduate from NIFT, Raebareli, Aditi has worked in the online retail of Chikankari (native hand-embroidery of Lucknow) garments under the brand ‘Go Lucknow’.
She is passionate about handicrafts and painting. “To pursue my passion, I decided to go for design, but I soon realized that formal management training was the needed for me to take my family business forward which is my ambition in future,” she comments talking about her motivation to join IIMA. She hopes to give the brand ‘Go Lucknow’ a national and hopefully, global recognition, one day.
