There are 325 MMS colleges located across Maharashtra and will offer admission based on MAH CET 2021 exam score. These MMS colleges have to participate in Centralized Admission Process (CAP) conducted by DTE Maharashtra after the result of MAH CET exam is declared. MAH CET MMS 2021 entrance exam dates are September 16, 17 & 18, 2021 and the result is expected in the last week of September of the first week of October 2021. The CAP round for final selection in MMS courses will begin in October/November 2021 and will continue for more than a month.


DTE Maharashtra has released a list of the 325 MMS colleges with total intake of 35000 seats in various management programmes offered by them. Some of the top MMS colleges include JBIMS Mumbai, SIMSREE Mumbai, DY Patil Pune among others.

What is MMS?
MMS is the post graduate degree management programme like MBA. MMS stands for Masters in Management Studies. Like MBA it is 2 years full time management degree program duly approved and recognized by UGC/AICTE. MMS is a University Degree programme. An MMS college is affiliated to a university to enable it to confer university degree of Masters in Management Studies.


MMS Vs MBA: How MMS is different from MBA?
The MMS is very similar to MBA. For example JBIMS is a top MMS college affiliated to Mumbai University while PUMBA – the Pune university department of management is another top MBA college which offers MBA degree, although the admission process in both of them is through DTE CAP.


The MMS curriculum as offered by the MMS College is similar to a regular MBA program. An MMS college specializations like MBA in areas like marketing, systems, HR, operations, and finance, Analytics among others. Universities offering MMS and the colleges offering MMS offer more industry ready courses than the MBA colleges. The reason is that MMS college curriculum is designed to provide not only theoretical knowledge but also advanced practical content as the MMS Universities have stronger tie ups with corporates and industry. An MMS college can therefore offer a successful career in industry as the student is industry ready by the time he/she comes out of the MMS college after completing the course.


MMS College Admission Process
The admission in MMS College is offered through DTE CAP. MMS is the 2 years full time MBA programme in MMS colleges in Maharashtra known as Master of Management Studies (MMS).  All the MAH CET participating institutes offer either MMS (JBIMS, SIMSREE etc.) in case it is autonomous, aided, private B-school, or if it is University department or University affiliated, the college will offer MBA programme for example PUMBA... See All List


However, all the MMS colleges accepting MAH CET Score will offer MMS programme which is regulated by Government of Maharashtra.

MMS Colleges: Offer Low Fee MMS Programme
Top MMS colleges under MAH CET run the low fee MMS programmes. The MMS fee in all these MMS colleges is decided by the Government agency ‘Shikshan Shulka Samiti.’


Apart from MAH CET score, all the MMS colleges also accept CAT, XAT, CMAT score in admission for All India category candidates. MMS colleges admission and MMS seat allotment is done by DTE Maharashtra through the Centralized Admission process after MAH CET result is declared.

Besides, other 300 MMS Colleges are also governed by DTE Maharashtra rules for the admission on Government seats and in seat allocation. Apart from the DTE Maharashtra seat allocation for MMS programmes, there are hundreds of MMS colleges who offer admission at institute level seats also without any necessity to go through the DTE CAP round.


MMS Colleges offer AICTE approved MMS/MBA programmes of Mumbai University, Pune University and other universities in the State of Maharashtra. Many top MBA Colleges In India accepting Maharashtra CET Score like PUMBA offer UGC recognized MBA programme.

  • Top MMS Colleges are governed by DTE Maharashtra
  • Even private aided or unaided/minority MMS colleges have a good number of seats allocated by DTE Maharashtra through the centralized admission process
  • As per the DTE Maharashtra notification Mumbai University MMS Colleges; Pune university MMS colleges or all other universities affiliated MMS colleges will accept only MAH CET, CAT and CMAT score for the seats filled up through DTE Centralized Admission Process (CAP)
  • MMS Colleges can be autonomous like JBIMS; can be society run; University department; University affiliated; Government aided; Unaided private MMS College or Minority status MMS College accepting MAH CET as well as other exam scores.
  • All the MMS colleges award Mumbai University, Pune University or other university degree in Maharashtra State.
  • Many MMS colleges like N L Dalmiya, IESMCRC, under MAH CET also run AICTE approved PGDM programmes and accept CAT, XAT and other exam scores.
  • MMS is low fee programme as MMS fee structure in the Colleges accepting MAH CET is regulated by ‘Shikshan Shulka Samiti’ of Government of Maharashtra for MMS programme.
  • PGDM fee structure in MMS colleges under MAH CET is decided at the institute level as per the AICTE guidelines

Key points to Remember

  • MMS colleges offering AICTE approved PGDM will have higher fee structure for PGDM
  • Some of the top MBA/PGDM colleges – namely SPJIMR Mumbai, NMIMS Mumbai, IIM Indore (Navi Mumbai campus); IIT Bombay; NITIE Mumbai do not offer MMS programme nor they accept MAH CET score for admission to any of their MBA/PGDM programmes.
  • No CAP round for admission to AICTE approved, institute based PGDM programme will be conducted in the MMS colleges. Admission process will be finalized at the institute level.
  • It may be noted that the MMS colleges with multiple system of seat allocation apart from DTE CAP seats, for example- Institute level, minority and other seats may fill their institute level seats with other exam scores also with the directive from Government of Maharashtra. 
  • For PGDM and other AICTE approved management programmes, the institutes are not bound to participate in DTE CAP and can conduct their own admission process and accept other exam scores, apart from MAH CET, CAT and CMAT.
