TISSNET 2023 Pattern: Sectional composition, Key Changes, Weightage
TISSNET 2023 exam date is February 25, 2023. The exam duration is 100 minutes from 2 PM to 3.40 PM and will be a computer based test. Many changes are made in TISS NET 2023 exam pattern. Tata Institute of Social Sciences has not announced to conduct additional types of exams TISMAT/TISSPAT of 45 minutes duration which were held earlier.
TISSNET offers admission to various management programmes at different campuses of Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). TISSNET 2023 will be an online CBT exam comprising MCQ type questions. This year candidates may not need to appear in TISSMAT and TISSPAT before Online Assessment round.
TISS NET 2023 Exam Pattern
Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) conducts TISS NET in 40 centres located in different parts of the country. There are 100 questions in MCQ format in TISSNET 2023. The duration of the test is also 100 minutes. Candidates get 1 mark for every correct answer. There is no negative marking in TISSNET 2023 for wrong answers. The exam is of 100 marks.

- TISSNET 2023 score will be taken into account for preparing the final merit list for selection with a weightage of 50%.

- Sectional cut off for General Awareness (GA) is applied for qualifying the TISS-NET exam.
- Candidate not scoring minimum cut-off mark for the General Awareness as shared below will not be qualified for TISS NET irrespective of the aggregate score obtained by them

TISS MAT & TISSPAT 2023: Not for Admission 2023
TISS offers more than 50 Masters programs at its different campuses. Among these are flagship MA (HRM & LR) and MA (ODCL) which are most sought after masters programs. Earlier TISS conducted TISSMAT and TISSPAT for the shortlisted candidates before the final selection round. However, for the admission 2023, TISS has discontinued these additional exams. Brief details of the TISSMAT and TISSPAT exams for information, are shared below:
TISSMAT: Will Not be held in 2023: The candidates applying for the MA Human Resource Management & Labour Relations (HRM & LR) and MA Organisation Development, Change and Leadership (ODCL) offered by TISS at its Mumbai Campus also had to appear in a Management Aptitude Test (TISS-MAT) conducted before PI round after TISS-NET result was declared and shortlist was announced.
TISSMAT was of 50 marks for a duration of 45 minutes. The score for TISS MAT had a weightage while preparing the final merit list for admission.
The TISS Management Aptitude Test (MAT) was conducted only for the shortlisted candidates for MA (HRM) and MA (ODCL).
TISSPAT: Will Not be held in 2023: The candidates applying for all other MA programmes offered by TISS at its Mumbai and other Campuses also had to appear in TISS Programme Aptitude Test (TISSPAT) conducted before PI round after TISS-NET result was declared and shortlist was announced for each MA programme separately.
TISSPAT was of 50 marks for a duration of 45 minutes. The score for TISS PAT had a weightage while preparing the final score for the selection.
The TISSPAT was conducted only for the shortlisted candidates for MA programmes

TISS MAT: Role in Final Selection Process- Will not be conducted in 2023
- The TISS-MAT is a combination of both computer based MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) and descriptive writing for a duration of 45 minutes.
- TISS-MAT Score was considered along with the final selection process and thus was considered only for those who are shortlisted for Stage 2. TISS-MAT Score was aggregated with the score of TISSNET and OPI in the following manner to arrive at the final score for selection.

TISSPAT Exam Pattern & Highlights: Will not be conducted for 2023
- The TISS PAT was conducted for the candidates shortlisted from Stage 1.
- TISSPAT is a 45 mins test conducted for individual MA programmes
- The duration of the PAT is 45 minutes if candidate has applied and shortlisted only for one programme.
- If candidate has selected two programmes the duration of the TISSPAT is 90 minutes and for three programmes the duration of TISSPAT will be 135 minutes.
- After Shortlisting it was mandatory to Appear in TISSPAT before Online Personal Interview for each MA programme separately.
- Personal Interview for TISS admission 2023 will be conducted Online
- Final Admission is based on TISSNET, Online Assessment as TISSPAT is not announced
Weightage in Final Selection

TISS NET paper gives enough opportunities to score in the Verbal and RC area as well as in the Mathematics, Data Interpretation and Logical Ability area. However, the area on General Knowledge and Current Affairs is usually the deciding factor for the cut off.
Highest cut off is applied for MA in HRM & LR in TISSNET and goes in the range of 65 to 69.
