The present TISSNET will not be conducted any more as per the notification released by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) for admission 2024 onwards. After Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) has cancelled its own PG entrance exam TISSNET 2024 for admission 2024 and has made CAT 2023 and CUET PG 2024 exams mandatory for Admission 2024 to various PG programmes, TISS aspirants are worried about other options as the CAT registration is already closed. TISS Admission 2024: No TISSNET

  • TISSNET 2024 has been cancelled by Tata Institute of Social Sciences
  • Now CAT 2023 is Mandatory Exam for M.A. (HRM & LR), M.A. (ODCL) Admission 2024
  • CUET (PG) 2024 is the Mandatory Exam for Admission 2024 in other PG programs
  • TISS Aspirants to appear in CAT 2023 or CUET PG and apply separately for TISS Admission
  • TISS Applications for Admission 2024 likely to Open in December 2023

In its notification dated November 14, 2023, Tata Institute of Social Sciences has clarified, “The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), has decided that admission for the forthcoming Academic Session 2024-25 for all its Postgraduate Programmes will be based on the CUET (PG)-2024 scores, except for the following programmes, which will consider CAT scores.

  • Master of Arts in Human Resource Management & Labour Relations
  • Master of Arts in Organisation Development, Change and Leadership

All additional details, updates, and notifications, as applicable, will soon be accessible on the Institute's admissions website.”

TISS selection process for MA 2023-25 batch, called the Online Assessment process, starts in March/April 2023 after declaration of TISSNET 2023 result. TISS NET 2023 exam date is February 25, 2023 and the Result of TISSNET 2023 will be declared in March 2023 first week in evening hours

 

TISSNET 2023 selection procedure for admission to M.A. programs at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) is a three step process comprising-TISSNET Score, Performance in Extempore and Personal Interview. The admission process and cut off for TISSNET MA 2023 selection procedure will vary from program to program. 

 

Step Wise Schedule of TISS Selection Process 2023
Following is the step wise schedule of admission process in Tata Institute of Social Sciences.

Appear in TISSNET 2023

TISSNET Exam date is February 25, 2023 (2 PM to 3.40 PM)

Check TISS-NET 2023 Result

(Candidates who appeared for the national entrance test will have to visit the TISS website and login to download your score card.)

First week of March 2023 (Evening hours)    

Extempore & Personal Interview at TISS for programmes offered at Mumbai, Tuljapur, Hyderabad, Guwahati and BALM, Chennai Campuses.

No TISSMAT & TISSPAT 2023: Discontinued Now
Earlier TISS conducted TISSMAT or TISSPAT after shortlisting the candidates for final selection round of different MA programmes. However, this has been discontinued now. Key details about the TISSMAT and TISSPAT are as below:

TISSMAT: Candidate had to appear in TISSMAT also, if applying for MA (HRM & LR); MA (ODCL) of Mumbai Campus

TISSMAT Exam was conducted after TISSNET Result declaration and shortlist announcement. TISSMAT used to be held before Online PI Round for the shortlisted candidates only. It was a 45 minute exam and earlier had a 40% weight in final selection

TISSPAT: Candidate had to appear in TISSPAT if you are applying for 3 of other 50 MA programmes

TISSPAT Exam date was after TISSNET Result declaration and shortlist announcement. TISSPAT was held before Online PI Round for the shortlisted candidates only. It was a 45 minute exam and earlier had a good 40% weight in final selection

  • Online Assessment (OA) – Comprising Extempore and Personal Interview
  • Final Merit List

The selection procedure of TISSNET 2023 for MA and other programmes is conducted in three stages and has three components of assessment.

Stage-1: Shortlisting
All candidates have to appear for the National entrance test - TISSNET for admission to the M.A. programme comprising 100 maximum marks divided in three sections.

 

Based on the performance in the TISSNET examination, only short listed candidates are called for the Online Assessment Round. Shortlisting criteria will be as under:

 

Shortlisting after TISS NET Result Declaration

  • Shortlisting the candidates will be done after declaration of TISSNET 2023 Result.
  • The shortlisting is based on TISSNET exam scores only.
  • The shortlisting process will be based on overall and sectional scores obtained in TISSNET exam.
  • TISSNET Score will have 50% weightage in calculating the final score for selection

Stage-2: Final Selection Procedure: Online Assessment Process
Final Selection Round, Online Assessment, comprises following two major components:

  • 2.1 Extempore Reflection on a Given Topic with 100 Marks
  • 2.2 Online Personal Interview (OPI) with 100 Marks

Online Assessment (OA) as applied in admission has following weightages in the final selection procedure to prepare the final merit lists for General as well as for Reserved category Candidates.

Stage-3: Final Merit List Preparation

The merit list will be prepared on the basis of merit and the preferences indicated by the candidates at the time of filling up the online application form. 

 

Tie Breaker in Final Selection
In case of a tie between two candidates, the selection will be made as follows:

  • PI marks will be compared and the one with more marks in PI will be considered
  • In case there is a tie in PI marks too their TISSNET marks will be compared and the one with more marks in entrance test will be considered
  • In case there is a tie in Entrance marks too then the candidate higher in age will be given the seat.

Display of Final Merit List

  • Based on the merit list for each program, the list of selected candidates will be put up on the website
  • Each candidate will also receive his/her score card indicating the marks for each component of the examination process.
  • List of Selected Candidates and list of wait-listed candidates will be displayed on the TISS admission website.

Preparation of the wait-list in TISS Selection Process

  1. Candidates who get admission to the programme of their first preference will not be on wait-lists for any other programme mentioned in their list of preferences.
  2. Candidates who get admission into any programme which is their second preference, will only be retained in the wait list of the first preference. Candidates who get admission into any programme which is their third preference, will be retained in the wait list of their first and second preference
  3. Candidates, who receive an admission in a programme lower in their order of preferences, will be retained in the wait-list of a preference higher in the order, till the seats in that programme are filled.
  4. In case, the candidates qualifies in two programmes at the same time, when the wait list is activated, the higher preference will prevail. The Institute will offer admission only to the higher preference.
  5. When a candidate who has already taken admission in a programme as per the first merit list is subsequently offered the higher preference when the wait list is activated, he/she will be moved into the programme of higher preference and will be informed.
