Khammam in Telangana, Khanna and Phagwara in Punjab, Cochin in Kerala, Gaya in Bihar, Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh are no longer the test cities for CAT 2017 exam.

More small towns included as CAT 2017 Test Cities
It is not that IIM Lucknow has only deleted a few of the existing test cities. In fact number of states have found additional test cities which have replaced the old ones. For example, Bhatinda in Punjab, Chirala in Andhra Pradesh, Purnea in Bihar, Waknaghat in Himachal Pradesh, Samba in J&K, Bokaro in Jharkhand,  Dharwad and Gulbarga in Karnataka, Ernakulam in Kerala, Ulhasnagar in Maharashtra,  Dhenkanal in Odisha, Tiruvallur in Tamilnadu, Bankura in West Bengal have been added to the list of CAT 2017 test centres.

NOIDA, Mathura remain as CAT 2017 Test Centres
In 2014 and 2015 Noida had remained out of the list of CAT test cities although Greater Noida the suburb of Noida was included as one of the test centres. Candidates had to face a good amount of trouble reaching Greater Noida especially in the morning session as in absence of availability of conveyance and dense fog on the way, it was difficult for them to reach the test venue.

In fact till 2013 Noida continued to be one of the test cities for CAT exam. But in 2014 and 2015, the test venue had been only Greater Noida which is around 25-35 Km away from Noida.

Besides Noida is well connected by Metro, Govt regulated bus service and other numerous public transport system and adding Noida as one the test cities will sure help the test takers to avoid many problems.

Candidates had to make a big hole in their pocket by shelling out a good amount of money, if they chose to travel even by an auto-rickshaw or taxi as the fare is also not very well regulated and when you are in need, you may expect any irrelevant fare hike.

Hundreds of candidates requested to designate Noida in Delhi NCR as one of the test centres. Accordingly, in 2016, Noida was restored as CAT exam centre. This year also, IIM Lucknow has kept Noida, Mathura and Meerut – the cities near Delhi, as the CAT 2017 exam centres, accepting the demand of CAT aspirants.

Test Centre near you
The changes, additions and replacement of many CAT test centres are brought about by IIM Lucknow to facilitate easy accessibility for CAT 2017 aspirants and with a view to reduce their commuting time to arrive at the CAT test centre.

The CAT exam conducting experience of IIMs has revealed that there are some exam centres where not many candidates appear and as such it has not been found feasible to continue them in the list of CAT test cities. On the other hand, there are many small cities and towns which have more CAT aspirants and need a nearby CAT exam centre. Looking at the trends and strengths, CAT centre 2017 has decided to shut a few CAT test centres and replace them with new test cities to help the CAT aspirants.

CAT 2017 exam will be held on Sunday November 26, 2017 in 2 sessions of 3 hours duration each in 140 test cities. It is expected there would be more than 400 testing venues for CAT 2017 exam. Prof Neeraj Dwivedi, faculty and admission chair at IIM Lucknow  is the convener of CAT 2017 exam with TCS as partnering testing agency.
