Supreme Court grants stay to EPSI against AICTE PGDM 2010 notification for 2018 academic session

On November 20, 2017, Honble Supreme Court of India granted extension of stay to EPSI and others against the AICTE controversial order of Dec 28, 2010.

Once again accepting the plea of PGDM institutions, Honble Supreme Court of India granted extension of stay on November 20, 2017 to EPSI against the AICTE controversial order of Dec 28, 2010 trying to disrupt the autonomy of PGDM B-schools.This stay is valid for academic session starting June 2018.

The decision on stay on Writ Petition (Civil) of Education Promotion Society for India & others was delivered on November 20 by the bench of judges. The petition was duly heard and after the hearing the Apex Court granted extension of stay to EPSI against the AICTE controversial order of Dec 28, 2010 trying to disrupt the autonomy and effective functioning of PGDM B-schools.

Sharing the development, Dr H. Chaturvedi, Alt President EPSI said Both the EPSI and and AIMS have been touch with the Chairman, AICTE who is trying to resolve it amicably. Since it is taking time, we had to go to the Supreme Court. Now with the order of the apex court cloud of suspicion on PGDM admissions for the next year (2017-18) are clear and we can go ahead for conducting GD/Interview.

However, MBAUniverse.com has learnt that Court asked for regular hearing for final settlement of this case since the case has been lingering on for many years. Earlier, the Honble Supreme Court in its five interim orders issued on March 17, 2011, July 26, 2011, March 1, 2012, August 29, 2013, October 15, 2014, December 4, 2015 and December 20, 2016 has restored the status quo and stayed AICTEs Notification of December 2010.
EPSI has called for all PGDM B-schools to come together to present its case more effectively to Court and Regulatory bodies.
