The Conference provided a forum to prominent speakers, management thinkers and professors to analyze the dimensions of digital interventions
Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, Dwarka organized a Two-Day National Conference on 22nd and 23rd March,2018 and the theme for the conference was Digital Interventions for Economic Growth. The Conference provided a forum to prominent speakers, management thinkers and professors to analyze the dimensions of digital interventions undertaken by the government, corporate organizations and entrepreneurs and its impact on the economy and the society.
The Conference commenced with the arrival of the chief guest, Shri Shekhar Dutt, Former Governor, Chhattisgarh and the keynote speaker, Shri Anil Bhardwaj, Advisor, TRAI. A video on Late Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Jis life was played which was followed by lighting of the lamp by the chief guests, Mr. Dutt and Mr. Bhardwaj; Dr. D.K. Shrivastava, Director, LBSIM; Dr. G.L. Sharma, Advisor, Corporate Interface, LBSIM; Prof. Alok Pandey, Conference Convener, LBSIM and Mr. Saurabh Maloo, President, Management Grid 2018-19, LBSIM.

The session commenced with a welcome address by Dr. D.K. Shrivastava, Director, LBSIM which was followed by an introduction to the conference by Prof. Alok Pandey, Conference Convener, LBSIM. Prof. Pandey highlighted the importance of the terms, coined by Late Prof. C.K. Prahlad; Transaction, Governance and Capacity and also talked about factors responsible for lack of transparency in corporate governance.
The Address by The Chief Guest, Shri Shekhar Dutt followed the introduction, wherein he threw some light on the importance of efficient digitalization and how to skilfully handle it. He quoted, Digitization will make all our activities in all the sectors cheaper and efficient. We must make all our industries and sectors equipped with digitization and for that, we must implement standard operating and training practices. He also talked about India, being the third largest tech start up hub in the whole world and mentioned, We have to think bigger and to achieve that our growth will have to be n times that of the world.
Followed by the inaugural address, Shri Anil Bhardwaj, on the Key Note address for National Conference, highlighted how ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and its implementation has led to world perceive India as an IT hub nation. He said, The size and scale of the digital portals like Facebook and Google have increased manifold. They have become the size of the largest states by revenue of the country. He also quoted, Internet and Digitization have helped in reducing information asymmetry; faster, cheaper, convenient transactions; and a more efficient supply chain management.
The Session was concluded by a vote of thanks from Dr. G.L. Sharma, Advisor, Corporate Interface, LBSIM and a presentation of mementos as a token of gratitude to the dignitaries. Also, the official release of the book, Digital Interventions for Economic Growth containing research papers edited by Dr. Alok Pandey, Professor, Area Convener (Finance and Accounts), LBSIM; Dr. G.L. Sharma, Advisor, Corporate Interface, LBSIM; Dr. Anuj Verma, Associate Professor, LBSIM; and Dr. Nidhi Malhotra, Assistant Professor, LBSIM was done at the end of the inaugural session by the respected dignitaries.
Post a short tea break, Technical session one commenced with the introduction of the theme- Digital Entrepreneurs: Leading Transformation in Rural India. It was led by the chairperson for the session, Shri S.P. Sharma, Inspector General (Retired), CAO, LBSIM. Mr. Sharma invited the speakers of the session, namely Shri Jitendra Kumar Solanki, Ms. Misba Hashmi and Shri Gokul Saini to present their life cases and narrate their journey of being successful entrepreneurs in rural India.
In an ordered sequence, Shri Jitendra Kumar Solanki, Village Level Entrepreneur, CSC, Dhanauri Kalan, Gautama Buddha Nagar, U.P. initiated the session. He mainly focused on the services provided by CSC (Common Service Center) like Government, Insurance, Electricity, Utility, Telecom, Travel, Education and many other sectors. He also highlighted how these services have made the life of a common man living in Dhanauri Kalan village easy and convenient by saving time and making these services available 24*7.
Next came Ms. Misba Hashmi, Village Level Entrepreneur, CSC, Yamuna Nagar, Haryana. Ms. Hashmi showed us her journey of being a successful rural entrepreneur by battling personal dilemmas, social stigma, and hard pressured community and by uplifting others after facing these challenges. She also highlighted the 24*7 hours services provided by CSC and how it completely changed the daily lives of rural people living in Yamuna Nagar village.
Shri Gokul Saini, Village Level Entrepreneur, CSC, Alwar district, Rajasthan was the last speaker of the session. He highlighted his speech on empowering women society of all ages through digital literacy at the UVA Jagriti Sansthan situated in Alwar, Rajasthan. He also mentioned about the Sansthan, in which various schemes were launched like PMG Disha, Cyber Gram Yojana, e-Swavlambika Project, Rural Mart, Digital Sakhi and many others, for empowering women in that area which led to their economic growth and mass recognition in the village.
Post the speech, Dr. Shalini Agnihotri, professor (Finance) gave a vote of thanks at the end of the session. The session concluded with the presentation of mementos as a token of gratitude to the guests.
Post the lunch break, there were two concurrent technical sessions being held simultaneously. The Technical session-2, being held in LBSIM Auditorium, commenced with the introduction of the theme of the session, Digital Interventions for Governance & Society. It was headed by the chairperson for the session, Shri Shahnawaz Rashid, General Manager-Education CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd. Mr. Rashid welcomed five paper presentations on the above theme presented by various authors and co-authors.
In an ordered sequence, first paper was presented by Dr. Renu Choudhary & Dr. Vandana Jain, Associate Professors, IITM University on the topic, Digital Dividends: Contribution of Information and Communication Technology towards Economic Growth. In their presentation, they mainly focused on the importance of ICT in todays era and talked about pivotal role in jobs creation, business advancement, rapid agriculture growth and many other sectors.
The second paper was presented by Aditi Mittal, Research Scholar FMS-Wisdom, Banasthali University, Rajasthan on the topic, A Study of Digital Literacy of Farmers in Banasthali Village. In her research paper presentation, she mainly highlighted the implementation of Bharti Model of Digital Literacy (BMDL) in various rural areas and talked about the survey report which she conducted in Banasthali village regarding the topic mentioned.
The third paper was presented by Prof. Harsh Purohit and Ravisha Chutani, Research Associate FMS-Wisdom, Banasthali University, Rajasthan on the topic, Financial Literacy and Inclusion in India. In her speech, she presented a survey report conducted by NCFE (National Centre for Financial Education 2014) and mainly talked about financial literacy and inclusion awareness in India through Bhartiya Model of Financial Literacy (BMFL).
The fourth paper was presented by Prof. Harsh Purohit and Pawandeep Kaur Bindra, FMS-Wisdom, Banasthali University on the topic Digital Financial Literacy Initiatives by Private Sector Banks in India. In her presentation, she talked about the needs and benefits of Digital Financial Literacy through Bharti Model of Digital Literacy. For this, a research study was conducted in three different banks, HDFC, Axis, and ICICI.
The fifth paper was presented by Mr. Omveer Choudhary, Mr. Pradeep Singh & Mr. Rishikesh Patankar on the topic The Economic impact of Geographic Information System (GIS) based system used in Digital Literacy Project for Rural India. He highlighted the importance and use of GIS in various sectors like Agriculture, Public health, Smart cities and many others and also talked about how this can contribute significantly to the Digital Literacy Project by helping the rural people.
Dr. Gautam Negi, Professor (Finance), LBSIM gave a vote of thanks to conclude the session and presentation of certificates to the paper presenters and memento presentations to Shri Shahnawaz Rashid by Dr. Negi.
A concurrent Technical session 3 was held in the AV room and it commenced with the introduction of the theme of the session, Digital Intervention for Financial Intervention, by the chairperson for the session, Dr. Amit Kumar Singh, Associate Professor, Delhi School of Economics. He welcomed 5 paper presentations on the theme by various authors ad co-authors.
Paper 1 was presented by Dr. Ajay Bansal and Ravneet Singh Bhandari on the topic, Impact of Socialization agents on Social Media Behaviours such as information seeking behaviour, trading behaviour, socialization behaviour, emotional behaviour and reinforcement behaviour and to find out how management can use this as a tool in the organization.
Paper 2 was presented by Dr. Raman Preet Singh and Mukul Arora on the topic Understanding perceived risk in Block Chain Adoption- An Indian buyer perspective. Major factors were Perceived financial performance risk, perceived privacy risk, perceived trust deficit and perceived government risk.
Paper 3 was presented by Dr. Amit Kumar Singh and Mr. Rohit Kumar Shrivastava on the topic, Analyzing the Role of Digitization in Indian Equity Market. The objective was also to see the concurrent role of government in promoting digitization for the same.
Paper 4 was presented by Dr. Amit Kumar Singh, Radhika Narula and Shivani Kalra on the topic, Money changing its form the revolutionary Digital leap in E-Banking in India-An Analysis. They particularly focused on the payments sector in their study and talked about the changing scenario of payments sector in the light of digitization and emergence of various e-payment merchants and to analyse the impact of demonetisation on the e-payments sector.
Paper 5 was presented by Aditya Chourasiya, Aditi Kambli Krutarth Satoskar and Rajshri Bhaisare on the topic, On the cross-market linkages in Global Financial Markets. Observations were made in connection to Sensex and global markets.
The session concluded with the presentation of certificates to the paper presenters and memento presentation to Dr. Amit Kumar Singh by Dr. Pankaj Varshney, Programme Co-ordinator, PGDM finance, LBSIM.
Day 2 of the National Conference,2018 commenced with Technical session 4, the theme for which was Digital Interventions, Stakeholder Awareness and Capital Markets. The introduction of the theme was given by the chairperson of the session, Prof. Amitava Chatterjee, Formal Principal, Presidency College, Kolkata. He introduced us with the presenters of 4 research papers who talked about their research work regarding Mobile Wallets, IT organisations, Search Engine Marketing and Portfolio Diversification Strategies.
First Paper was presented by Dr. Karishma Gulati Trehan and Dr. Shikha N.Khera on the topic, Demographic Factors and Knowledge Sharing behaviour in IT organisations in India. In her research paper, Dr. Trehan highlighted the importance of Knowledge sharing as one of the ways to create numerous job opportunities and to maximize the capability of the organisations. She also talked about the concept of tacit knowledge and the research study which is being done in IT companies to evaluate the concept.
Second paper was presented by Disha Verma Kalra and Jyoti Gupta on the topic, An Analysis of Search Engine Marketing: Perception of Searchers Towards Organic and Inorganic links. The paper was presented by a student of LBSIM in the absence of the presenters.
Third Paper was presented by Dr.Isha Rawal & Dr.Renu Vashisth on the topic, Portfolio Diversification Strategies with Special Reference to Financial Crises in a Digitally Globalized World. The paper was presented by the students of Dr. Rawal and Dr. Vashisth. The paper was an analysis of the US sub-prime crisis of the year 2008 in context of the topic.
The session concluded with presentation of memento as a token of gratitude to the session chair, Prof. Amitava Chatterjee and a vote of thanks by Dr. Vishakha Bansal, Associate Professor, LBSIM.
Post the Technical session 4, the Valedictory Session was organized and the theme of the session was Digital Interventions for Economic Growth: Way Forward.
The session commenced with welcoming the dignitaries, Dr. Dinesh Tyagi, CEO & Whole time Director, CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd. and Mr. Saurabh Jain, Head Paytm-Build for India. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Anuj Verma, Jt. Convener of the Conference. In his speech, Dr. Verma talked about the importance of financial inclusion for the sustainable development of economy. He also talked about how digitization has helped achieved this economic growth and also highlighted certain safety issues which are to be taken care of.
A Special Address was given by the Guest of Honour for the day, Mr. Saurabh Jain, Head Paytm-Build for India, and he initiated the speech by talking about the history of currency and the evidences of first known accounting records being maintained in earlier periods. The legacy of this currency continued forward and today, we are dealing with digital ones. He concluded by saying, Digital payment is the way forward and E-commerce is the facilitator in coming years.
The Chief Guest for the day, Dr. Dinesh Tyagi, CEO & Whole time Director, CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd, on the valedictory address, said, Education is a great entrepreneur business in India and it is a great enabler and value proposition for the community. We should promote education, particularly in rural sector, as it is what will sustain in the long term.
This was followed by the magazine launch by the co-ordinators of Nivesh- The Mutual-fund Investment Society of LBSIM, Vidhu Pandey and Abhinam Chhabra. Nivesh Marg. The magazine talks about the economic reports, sector reports, the articles submitted by students. It lists down top mutual funds to look forward to with the help of Bloomberg Terminal.
Post the magazine launch, the awards for best research papers were distributed to the research scholars who were invited for paper presentations for the conference.
3rd prize was given to the paper by Dr. Karishma Gulati Trehan & Shikha N.Khera on Demographic Factors and Knowledge Sharing behaviour in IT organisations in India.
2nd prize was given to the paper by Prof. Harsh Purohit & Ravisha Chutani on Financial Literacy and Inclusion in India with Special reference towards NCFE Report through Bhartiya Model of Financial Literacy (BMFL).
The research paper that bagged the 1st prize was presented by Dr.Isha Rawal & Dr.Renu Vashisth on Portfolio Diversification Strategies with Special Reference to Financial Crises in a Digitally Globalized World.
The session was concluded by memento presentation to the dignitaries and a vote of thanks by Dr. Alok Pandey, Convener of the Conference, Professor and Area Convener (Finance), In charge- International Linkups, Member-Secretary-Academic Advisory Body, LBSIM.

They particularly focused on the payments sector in their study and talked about the changing scenario of payments sector in the light of digitization and emergence of various e-payment merchants and to analyse the impact of demonetisation on the e-payments sector.
Paper 5 was presented by Aditya Chourasiya, Aditi Kambli Krutarth Satoskar and Rajshri Bhaisare on the topic, On the cross-market linkages in Global Financial Markets. Observations were made in connection to Sensex and global markets.
The session concluded with the presentation of certificates to the paper presenters and memento presentation to Dr. Amit Kumar Singh by Dr. Pankaj Varshney, Programme Co-ordinator, PGDM finance, LBSIM.
Day 2 of the National Conference,2018 commenced with Technical session 4, the theme for which was Digital Interventions, Stakeholder Awareness and Capital Markets. The introduction of the theme was given by the chairperson of the session, Prof. Amitava Chatterjee, Formal Principal, Presidency College, Kolkata. He introduced us with the presenters of 4 research papers who talked about their research work regarding Mobile Wallets, IT organisations, Search Engine Marketing and Portfolio Diversification Strategies.
First Paper was presented by Dr. Karishma Gulati Trehan and Dr. Shikha N.Khera on the topic, Demographic Factors and Knowledge Sharing behaviour in IT organisations in India. In her research paper, Dr. Trehan highlighted the importance of Knowledge sharing as one of the ways to create numerous job opportunities and to maximize the capability of the organisations. She also talked about the concept of tacit knowledge and the research study which is being done in IT companies to evaluate the concept.
Second paper was presented by Disha Verma Kalra and Jyoti Gupta on the topic, An Analysis of Search Engine Marketing: Perception of Searchers Towards Organic and Inorganic links. The paper was presented by a student of LBSIM in the absence of the presenters.
Third Paper was presented by Dr.Isha Rawal & Dr.Renu Vashisth on the topic, Portfolio Diversification Strategies with Special Reference to Financial Crises in a Digitally Globalized World. The paper was presented by the students of Dr. Rawal and Dr. Vashisth. The paper was an analysis of the US sub-prime crisis of the year 2008 in context of the topic.
The session concluded with presentation of memento as a token of gratitude to the session chair, Prof. Amitava Chatterjee and a vote of thanks by Dr. Vishakha Bansal, Associate Professor, LBSIM.
Post the Technical session 4, the Valedictory Session was organized and the theme of the session was Digital Interventions for Economic Growth: Way Forward.
The session commenced with welcoming the dignitaries, Dr. Dinesh Tyagi, CEO & Whole time Director, CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd. and Mr. Saurabh Jain, Head Paytm-Build for India. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Anuj Verma, Jt. Convener of the Conference. In his speech, Dr. Verma talked about the importance of financial inclusion for the sustainable development of economy. He also talked about how digitization has helped achieved this economic growth and also highlighted certain safety issues which are to be taken care of.
A Special Address was given by the Guest of Honour for the day, Mr. Saurabh Jain, Head Paytm-Build for India, and he initiated the speech by talking about the history of currency and the evidences of first known accounting records being maintained in earlier periods. The legacy of this currency continued forward and today, we are dealing with digital ones. He concluded by saying, Digital payment is the way forward and E-commerce is the facilitator in coming years.
The Chief Guest for the day, Dr. Dinesh Tyagi, CEO & Whole time Director, CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd, on the valedictory address, said, Education is a great entrepreneur business in India and it is a great enabler and value proposition for the community. We should promote education, particularly in rural sector, as it is what will sustain in the long term.
This was followed by the magazine launch by the co-ordinators of Nivesh- The Mutual-fund Investment Society of LBSIM, Vidhu Pandey and Abhinam Chhabra. Nivesh Marg. The magazine talks about the economic reports, sector reports, the articles submitted by students. It lists down top mutual funds to look forward to with the help of Bloomberg Terminal.
Post the magazine launch, the awards for best research papers were distributed to the research scholars who were invited for paper presentations for the conference.
3rd prize was given to the paper by Dr. Karishma Gulati Trehan & Shikha N.Khera on Demographic Factors and Knowledge Sharing behaviour in IT organisations in India.
2nd prize was given to the paper by Prof. Harsh Purohit & Ravisha Chutani on Financial Literacy and Inclusion in India with Special reference towards NCFE Report through Bhartiya Model of Financial Literacy (BMFL).
The research paper that bagged the 1st prize was presented by Dr.Isha Rawal & Dr.Renu Vashisth on Portfolio Diversification Strategies with Special Reference to Financial Crises in a Digitally Globalized World.
The session was concluded by memento presentation to the dignitaries and a vote of thanks by Dr. Alok Pandey, Convener of the Conference, Professor and Area Convener (Finance), In charge- International Linkups, Member-Secretary-Academic Advisory Body, LBSIM.
