NTPC beats Accenture to win Delhi round of Tata Crucible Business Quiz

The quiz was held in Delhi, the venue being Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi.
Mr. Bharat Wakhlu Resident Director, Tata Services Limited felicitated the winners with a cash prize of Rs.75000 The winning team from New Delhi will now compete with regional winners from 15 other cities, at the national finals scheduled to be held in end-September 2008. The runners-up team of Rohan Khanna & Sandeepan Chaudhuri from Accenture were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 35000.

This opening regional round of the Tata Crucible The Business Quiz 2008 saw a sizeable turnout of teams from New Delhi based corporates. The quiz was conducted by the ace quizmaster Mr. Giri Balasubramaniam a.k.a. Pickbrain.

The concept of Nano Quizzing was introduced for the first time in the corporate quiz. This pertains to a new round called Nano Words that provides the team with a couple of clues to arrive at the final answer.
On winning the regional round at New Delhi, Sujit Varkey from NTPC said, We had heard about Tata Crucible as the toughest and the most exciting business quiz. Today, winning the regional round of the quiz is a proud moment for us. We now look forward to the National Finals of Tata Crucible next month. We are sure the finals will be a lot more competitive and we will start our preparations immediately.

The chief guest for evening Mr. Bharat Wakhlu, congratulated the winners and said, Everybody over here is a winner as they have done a great job in bringing the quiz to this great level.
The Tata Crucible Business Quiz 2008 regional round has taken place in Coimbatore (Aug 3), Cochin (Aug 5), Hyderabad (Aug 9), Panjim (Aug 10), Ahmedabad (Aug 19), Pune (Aug 24), Bangalore (Aug 31), Bhubaneswar (Sept 5), Kolkata (Sept 7), Chandigarh (Sept 11). It will now travel next to Lucknow (Sept 14) and subsequently to Indore (Sept 18), Mumbai (Sept 20) and Chennai (Sept 21). The grand finale will be held in end-September. The cash prize for the National winners has been doubled from Rs.2 lakhs to Rs. 4 lakhs.
