IIT Kanpur to organize business and entrepreneurship festival Megabucks in January

Some of the highlights of Megabucks 2009 will be business plan content IDeas, VC presentations, conferences by high profile speakers and case study competitions.

Says IIT Kanpur, Conceptualized by the batch of IIT Kanpur in 2000, Megabucks is one of the biggest business and entrepreneurship festivals of the country in terms of success, participation and budget. With personalities like Mr. Myron Scholes(Nobel Laureate, Economics), Mr. Narayan Murthy, Mr. Sanjeev Sinha(Director, UBS Japan) giving talks, workshops by organizations like NSE & NCDEX, international conferences on current issues, twelve diverse competitions,and huge prize money, Megabucks gives a global platform for young leaders of tomorrow.

Last year, Megabucks saw total participation of 8000 students from more than 80 technical and 40 business schools. The event receives regular participation not only from prestigious Indian Institutes like IIMs, XLRI, SP Jain, IITs but also from internationally renowned universities like Stanford, Purdue, Chicago University, McMaster University Canada and National University of Singapore.

This year Megabucks will take a leap forward with the scale, the participation and the prizes of the events bigger than ever before. Some of the highlights of the festival will be:

IDeas is today one of the largest Business Plan Contest with cash prize money of 2.5lakhs and seed fund exceeding 4crores.
With cases and judges coming from top-notch firms like Xerox, Technopak, Price Waterhouse Coopers and Avaya Labs, Battlefield is the largest case study competition in the country.
The online trading competition, Bulls and Bears will be hosted on KheloStocks.com, the virtual trading portal this year.
Apart from all this, 25 happening start-ups would be giving presentations in front of eminent Venture Capitalists as a part of Impresario.
Two conferences with the theme of Social Entrepreneurship and Young Guns will be held during the festival.
Also, Megabucks is the only festival to have its own Casino, with roulette tables, poker, black jack, casino wars and darts.
