Commencements 2009: SIBM Pune kicks off with motivational & business talks

This year, the SIBM Pune also introduced the Learning Lap Concept to promote Case Study Method of teaching
The MBA program session at the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM) Pune commenced with an inaugural session on June 08, 2009. Speaking to MBAUniverse.com, Director of SIBM Pune Dr. Arun Mudbidri said, This year a unique Learning Lab Concept has been introduced to promote Case Study Method of teaching and to create orientation for research work. Also, SIBM Pune made sure that the selection of specialization and subjects related to the same are introduced and included in the curriculum from day-one of the academic sessions.
This year the new batch of students at the SIBM Pune met eminent corporate dignitaries, including Milind Pant, CMO of Yum Restaurants, Gaurav Bahadur, V-P HR Operation Resource Corporate of Vodafone, Sachin Joglekar, Sr V-P of ICICI Prudential, Vishwas Mahajan, co-founder & CEO of Compulink Systems and Prince Augustin, Sr V-P Human Capital (Automotive Sector) of Mahindra & Mahindra.
While sharing commencement details with MBAUniverse.com, a spokesperson from SIBM Pune said, This year the induction and orientation were clubbed together. Apart from getting motivational speeches and interacting with the eminent guests on the first day, the freshers of SIBM Pune were also addressed by SIU Chancellor Dr. SB Mujumdar, SIU Vice Chancellor Dr. MS Raste, Principal Director of Symbiosis Society Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar and SIBM Pune Director Dr. Arun Mudbidri.
The spokesperson also said that after the inaugural function of SIBM Pune, a three-day induction program and an outbound program was organized for the new MBA program students. He said, These programs were organized to help the students coming from varied and different backgrounds mix well and also to know more about the MBA school which will be their home for the next two years. According to the MBA school, this year 180 students (45 each in four divisions) have enrolled for the two-year MBA program at the SIBM Pune, the total fees for which is Rs 4.5 lakh per annum, including hostel and mess charges.
The MBA school SIBM, Pune, said that on the second day of induction the new MBA program students were made aware of the campus, its code of conduct and various curricular and co-curricular activities. It was also followed by an interaction with the full-time faculty of SIBM Pune on the whole years academic structure and its implementation.
On the third day of induction, a workshop on motivation and introduction to corporate sector was organized where topics like Realizing Human Potential and Introduction to Corporate Sector were discussed with the freshers, the spokesperson added. The induction program at SIBM Pune stretched for a week and ended with an outbound program on Personality Development Module.
