LOMA collaborates with BIMTECH and USAID to offer an insurance industry program

Birla Institute of Management and Technology (BIMTECH) and United States Agency of International Development (USAID, India), have launched a Fellow Life Management Institute (FLMI) Program in India, to be held on May 23 in New Delhi.It is a self-study program and will offer real-world insights into the operations and management of the insurance industry.

Speaking to MBAUniverse.com, Joel V. Basarich, Managing Director of LOMAs International Division, said, It is a program for professionals from the insurance and financial services industry. The books for the program will be available from August while the exam will be held later this year.

Established in 1932, the FLMI Program is the worlds largest university-level education program in insurance and financial services. More than 70,000 students throughout the world have earned the FLMI designation. Founded in 1924, LOMA is an international association through which more than 1,200 insurance and financial services companies from over 80 countries engage in research and educational activities to improve company operations.
To make the program India-specific, LOMA has customized the program content for Indian insurance professionals pursuing the FLMI designation. Said Joel V. Basarich, FLMI India provides students and professionals the standard LOMA curriculum along with supplemental study materials providing greater insight and specifics on Indian business practices and regulations This customized version of the FLMI Program can assist companies to develop their human resources.

Said Dr H Chaturvedi, director, BIMTECH, The main objective behind this course is to develop skilled professionals. We have provided inputs on the Indian life insurance sector to customize the FLMI course according to the Indian market.

LOMAs FLMI Program curriculum provides knowledge of how the insurance industry operates. The 10 self-study courses provide a comprehensive business education in the context of the insurance and financial services industry. The FLMI program features an introduction to industry terms, functional areas, processes, and area- and product-specific knowledge in marketing, administration and financial reporting.

In addition to the FLMI textbooks, LOMA offers supplemental booklets that guide the students study of both the primary text and specially developed material on Indian regulations, case studies, best practices and more. FLMI India examinations cover the core textbooks and the customized curriculum.

BIMTECH was established in 1988 under the aegis of the Birla Academy of Art and Culture, and is supported by Birla group of companies.

USAID is an independent government agency that provides economic development and humanitarian assistance to advance US economic and political interests overseas.
