New academic session begins at FMS Delhi

Prof J K Mitra, FMS Dean, Prof Deepak Pental, Delhi University Vice Chancellor, Mr BS Baswan, Education Secretary at the Ministry of HRD, and two FMS alumnus -- Baring Private Equity Internationals Mr Munish Dayal and HCL Technologies Mr Sanjeev Nikore addressed the gathering. Students from MBA full-time and MBA part-time, MBA in Management Services (MS), MBA in healthcare management and those in doctoral programs were present on the occasion.

Commenting the FMS advantage, Dean Prof J K Mitra said, Established in 1954, FMS is a successful experiment in higher education which has survived and thrived in the last six decades. It has very devoted and experienced faculty many of who have given 30 to 40 years to FMS.

Mr Baswan asked students to focus on goals and to possess inquisitiveness as a key trait. He said, Inquisitiveness is very important to learn. This is the time when students can question. So, question critically everything and try to look beyond the curriculum.

While addressing the students, Deepak Paintal promised to extend his help to upgrade the infrastructure at FMS Delhi. He said, FMS is a key institution of Delhi University. We must upgrade facilities and improve infrastructure. I will extend all support needed.

Emphasizing on the ethos of FMS, Prof Mitra said, We at FMS have passionate teachers and the perseverance to stick to our goals. We want to transfer same attitude to the new students.

FMS has been a pioneer of management education in India. It made its beginning with a three year part-time post graduate management program in Business Administration for senior and middle level executives in 1954. It started its full time MBA program in 1967.
